celebrating my 40th at the World

Hi Jen! I'm subbing. Happy (late) Birthday! Hope you had a great day.

We used to go to WDW all the time during the second week of March. So now, I'm living vicariously through your PTR and wishing I was going next month too!

LOVE the Alice dress...too cute!!!!

I've been thinking about buying the UG. I keep telling myself I don't need it, but I'm sure I'll probably breakdown and get it soon. :rotfl:

Due to popular demand! (Ok only one person asked)
Here are some things I find important to pack.

And yes, I have actually started packing. LOL! :hippie:

We stay at Pop. So these might not be useful dor everwhere.

I get a shoe hold that hangs like a hanger from a dollar store. We then hang it in the closet area to put misc. stuff. Hairsprays, gels, brushes, combs, just anything, and it keeps stuff together, and keeps the sink area clean as well.

I bring along clothes pins. Pop has a retractable clothesline in the shower, so I hang wet clothes up in there after swimming.

DD can be a messy eater. She normallly doesn't use a bib, but when she wears something nice, I don't want it to get icky either. She also loves soup, which then dribbles down the front. So I buy the disposable bibsters and bring them along, so when she has a messy icecream or something that is messy, I just put one on her and keeps her clean. Technically, my 16 year old needs to wear these still. LOL!

I am also making magnets to decorate our door. We did this lat year and it was easy to spot our room for DD. I am make some with magnetic pare (which is kind of pricey) and some with card stock and glue small magnets to the back.

We bring to laundry bags (again only a dollar at the Dollar store) We seperate lights and darks in them. I also do laundry while there so we don't have to pack quite as much. I buy travel size detergent from Target.

This year I am bringing a slound soother thing. First year we just played a CD on our portable DVD player, as DD needed music to go to sleep. Last year we brought the DVD player, but rarely used it (it's staying home this time around). So we used the fan in the bathroom or the TV, both kind of annoying. The fan only goes so long and I would notice it as soon as it clicked off. (we run a fan everynight at our house)
The clocks at pop have a sound machine(as of last year at least) but they would have like an ocean sound and then dang seagulls would chip loudly and it drove me nuts. Ours is much more soothing.

several pairs of shoes for a little one with bad feet. Well Claire isn't bad, so this isn't needed for her. But Paige had horrid feet (now wears a size 11) And she would blister everyday, so I had to pack a different pair of shoes for each day, so that the blisters in one area would get a rest, while news formed that day. LOL!

Costumes for people who have a little one who loves to dress up.

bandaids, sunscreen and all that good stuff.
We pack some small breafast items. Like a box of DD's favorite granola bars, and I usually get the hotess 100 calorie pack cinimon crumb cakes to eat before we head out. We also bring along a few juice boxes to take to the parks in case of an emergency thirst by DD. Also some gummys or crackers. It has happened too. Last year the parade was on and people near us were eating funnel cakes, and DD thought she would die without food, so I pulled out a drink and crackers and she was all happy.

I'm debating on bringing my laptop, just for the purpose of uploading pictures on it, or DD watching movies on the plane. But I think I won't. I have a ton of memory cards now for all my cameras (just ordered another to be safe for the point and shoot) so we should be OK. And DD hardly ever used the DVD palyer in the past, so it was more a pain to lug it around. This year she has a leapfrog leapster, and really likes that, so I think we'll just bring that and her two games, plus the new one the "nemo" is giving her.

Also be sure to pack some of your clothes in anothers suitcase. If you fly and one gets lost, then at least you have some clothes for everyone. I do it this way. I pack an outfit for each of us in the carryon, along with swimsuits and one of DD's costumes. So if by chance one bag didn't turn up, we each have a change of clothes (and underwear and socks), and can swim as well.

This year, unless the forcast if for cold weather, I'm leaving my winter jacket home. I'll just wear a sweatshirt with a hooded sweatshirt to the airport. and then won't have that big blulky thing to worry about on the plane. Same for DD. She has a Mickey jean jacket, and I'll just have her wear a sweatshirt under it. Our airport is not far at all, and very small. We'll be out sound for 2 seconds and then right up to the checkin counter.

I can't think of any others right now, but if I do, I'll share them. Or if I learn of anymore, I'll share as well.

Thanks so much! It was a pretty good day all in all. Though when we came back from going out to eat that evening our stupid basement was in the begginning stages of flodding. (something is just not right, and we have had problems since we built the house, so I really got on DH and told him we need a professional to come in and re hook stuff up the right way) So I spent the lat hour and a half of my b-day using my shampooer to suck water out of the carpet. It wasn't bad, we have had much worse, but it still made me mad.

How were crowds for you when you went in March? We went the first week the last two years, the first year was super busy and last year was nice. Hoping it's nice again this year.

Glad to hear you had a good birthday...well, all but the end of it.

 So sorry to hear about the flooding. That same thing just happened to my grandparents house. They're not sure what's causing the problem, but they had to spend a great deal of time cleaning up the mess in their basement. I hope it gets better!

Well, we haven't been in March since 2005. But, the crowds were never really that bad. I'd suggest using some type of touring plans simply b/c we found that going to DHS one day was super packed, and then we headed over to MK and it was empty. Hopefully, the crowds will be low for you guys. :goodvibes

Thanks for the tips :). Just wanted to say Happy Birthday. I like your packing list too. We always bring the over the door shoe holder, works great!
Last year we went to Disney March 11-17th. It was also the week before Easter as well as Spring break. I didn't think the crowds were any worse than I have seen in October. Your a planner, you use FP and you will be fine. The weather was just gorgeous that week too. Warm enough to swim but not hot or humid at all.

Thanks.
We use the hanger kid of shoe holder though. Pop has mirrors on the bathroom door, so the over the door kind isn't good there. Plus I can never find a cheap one of those. cheapest I found was $14.

Yesterday (and the day before) I checked out Target and Michaels. No Disney stuff for the most part. I wonder why I never can find all the good stuff I hear others getting. Target was a Sesame street lovers paradise though. Still trying to think up some cute ideas. I gotta get working on the letters too.

I also went tanning yesterday for the first time in about 5 years. I used to go all the time, as the salons I wokred in had them, so I went free or cheap. But I haven't gone since before I was pregnant with Claire. So I decided to go yesterday and start some color for the trip. Plus it just always makes me feel better. The hard part is having someplace for Claire to go while I go. I can go while she's at preschool, but thats only 2 days a week. So I may have to ask MIL and Paige to watch her here and there, so I can get a few extra times in and get my moneys worth. I always feel bad asking MIL as she watches her other grandchild EVERYDAY. He is autistic, and I think he's like 12. But they let him do anything he wants for the most part, and now he hangs on MIL and he is twice as tall as her. Long story, but SIL really takes advantage of the situation, and works ALOT. then stil lgoes out on weekends, here and there. And the is NO ONE else to watch him.
DH makes me feel guilty to ask her too, as she is overwelmed with this kid. He's too much for her anymore.
Sorry going off on a tangent! :wizard:

The pictures are amazing. Am hooked can't wait to hear more.

Another packing tip I thought of.

Bring rain ponchos. We get teh cheap disposable kind. Usually a dollar at walmart or target. Sometimes you can find 2 for a dollar at the dollar store. Comes in handy when it suddenly rains. In 2007 we never needed them, but used them a few times in 2008. Also great to put one over the stroller, or for a water ride you don't want to get too wet on.

I am not sure exactly what you are looking for but our Dollar Tree has some Disney items like stickers, coloring books, work books, markers, crayons etc.

Happy Birthday! ( a little late :) )
We have had rain here all day. I hope your basement isn't flooding anymore.

We have used our rain ponchos to cover the stroller as well. It works really well. That's a great tip!

I think more like stickers, or tattoes. I had heard that Michaels had Disney lanyards, but no go for me. I don't want markers or coloring books. We have alot of that stuff already. I may try to go to Disney store without her one day and see what fund little stuff I can find.

Hmmm, I think I may try to find some stickers as well.

I got some Disney letterhead (MK Castle) for joining up on something (was it Insider?) and I'm thinking to write a "can't wait to see you" note to my 3 year old goddaughter in FL.

They said they will come to see in Orlando, so this is a little added incentive! :wizard:

I found some goodies today! :cool1: :cool1: :wizard:

I took Claire to preschool and then went tanning. (I don't know if I mentioned it, but I just bought a package the other day. I haven;t tanned since before Claire was born and I used to love it. I already feel so good having a bit of color for my Florida trip)

I needed to go get some brown. envelopes becaue the cell phone battery I bought off ebay, the stupid foold sent me a totally different one, so I have to send it back. I hope they don't hassle me becuase it's opened, but thats how I found out it was wrong.
So I went to Family Dollar. I rarely go to this store, though it isn;t too far from my house.
I got my envelopes and then looked around and found a few great things to give as gifts from the princesses to Claire.
I got a 4 pack of the thick pens with Princesses on them. Got a hand held Fan (you press a button and it fans you) with Cinderella on it.
Some Princess underwear. A tiny etch a sketch thing with Mickey on it. And some headbands.
I wrapped them and hid them for now..

I also started on letters too. Did an Nemo one for her Nemo game for the day we leave and one from her Fairy Godmother leaving her the dress and shoes for BBB.

Here is the nemo letter. I have to scan the Fairy godmother one yet. And then work on some more. Easier to do when Claire is not here or sleeping.
I also noticed I spelled "for" wrong {fore}, after I printed it, but I decided I don't care as she can't read anyways. LOL!

So cuuuuute!

She is just going to be jumping up and down with excitement when she gets this!

Oh the letter is very cute lol jenseib it's true that small detail isnt important. The goodies are wonderful she will love them. Where did you get the letters from I want them.

I got some of the images of the cruise board in the magnet thread. And some I just did a search for the character and then saved it. I wrote the letters in photoshop on the picture then. Except the fairy godmother on (which I need to scan). I had a heck of a time with that one. I couldn't find a Jpeg of her, and only these really fancy ones that wouldn't allow me to write, so I copied the picture, printed it, scanned it, then I could
write on it in word. It was a pain.

Here is another I did.

Ok, I scanned the fairy godmother note

And another I did as well.

I was going to work on a few more this morning, but I hear Claire has just got up!
