Is see that for special occasions, cakes can be ordered . Has anyone ordered a Gluten free birthday cake? Is it even possible?

And if so, was it any good? This is for my daughter's birthday. She does not need GF, but my son and husband do , and I want them to be able to party with us.:woohoo:

From the inquiries I've made, it is possible. From what I understand, it is only available in a 6 inch size and is either chocolate or vanilla. I'm not sure they can decorate it (cross contamination issues) This is a dairy and gluten free cake. I'm ordering one for my birthday, but I won't have a review until I go in February. You can contact Brenda Bennett at special diets or call the Cake hotline. Good luck and let us know if you decide to order one and how it turns out! Sending you pixie dust. :thumbsup2

Last June we went to WDW to celebrate my daughters 21st birthday. She and I are both GF. I called the cake line ahead of time and they had her cake ready after our dinner at CA Grille. They made a beautifully decorated spice type cake with amazing yummy frosting that was GF! It was for the 6 of us and we had half leftover that she and I ate for breakfast for the next 3 days! I don't remember the size cake they said it was (maybe 8") but it was FANTASTIC! Call the cake line, I am sure they can set you up with whatever you need and they will have it delivered to the location of your choice and ready for your celebration.

Oh that cake sounds awesome! :thumbsup2 I'm glad to know you had a great experience and I'm excited about about getting a cake for my birthday when I get at the end of Jan! Thanks for the tips!

Oh I almost forgot... make sure you give them enough lead time. Have a great birthday (cake)!

Thank you. I hop they can make a child's themed cake. I am so excited.

I just ordered a 6 inch chocolate birthday cake (Gluten free, dairy, free, soy free, but DOES contain eggs) via IPO from the Wilderness Lodge bakery. I won't have a review until we go in Jan., but just wanted to let you all know. It is $29.50 (the regular 6 inch is $21, I believe). They said they will actually place the order with the bakery a week before we go. You have to have a CC to guarantee it and they either charge it to your card or bill you upon arrival. Can't wait for a real birthday cake! :thumbsup2

Sounds wonderful! Did they say wether it would be premade cake or wether it will be made fresh at WL? Did you ask about decorations?

I believe, from what IPO sent me, that the cake is actually made in the bakery. Brenda Bennett had given me information a while back that sounded like they were pre-made from a vendor, but this response says otherwise: "For a special dietary cake, our bakery can make a gluten
free, dairy free and soy free 6in cake in either chocolate or vanilla.
This cake is made in a bakery that uses nuts, soy and wheat and the cake
will contain eggs. Unfortunately, this is the only cake we have
available for our guest with dietary needs. We can not guarantee
anything that is made in our bakery due to possible cross contact
concerns. We would be happy to get you in touch with a chef if you
would like to discuss options with them."
I tried to get info about decorations, but couldn't get any response, so I'm not sure if they can do it. At this point, I'm just glad to have a cake reserved...any cake is exciting for me! (I really wanted a figment themed cake, but I kinda gave up on that one)

Thanks for the info! I am thinking about ordering a cake for my sister's birthday and she is only dairy intolerant. So no issues with cross contamination. I hope we will be able to get a fresh dairy free cake. :goodvibes

flossbolna: I'm pretty sure you can get just a dairy free cake. I read something about it a while back on my emails from Special Diets and IPO. Good luck! Let us know if you are able to get one! :thumbsup2
