Our granddaughter is turning 10 when we're at WDW and we are going to fix a special dinner for her in our 2 bedroom villa. Any ideas for where we could get a great cake? If you have any thoughts on other special decorations, etc, that would be great too. (She's not into princesses or characters - too "cool" now for that! Amazing how some kids grow out of Disney stuff, then grow right back into it once they pass through the teenage years.)

There is a cake ordering number and Disney florist offers birthday items. In addition you can get a birthday button, add the celebration to the reservation.

If you can go pick it up, PUBLIX supermarkets. Each store has a bakery which bakes everything fresh each day, and their cakes are outstanding. If a Disney motif is not critical, Publix would be a great choice, and they will customize the cake any way you want.

The Boardwalk Bakery makes delicious cakes. If you are staying at the Boardwalk or Beach Club they can deliver it to your room. If you are staying elsewhere you can just pick it up at the bakery. We always order our cakes there and have never been disappointed.

We just returned from celebrating my daughter's 10th Birthday at WDW. We stayed at SSR and I ordered a cake from The Boardwalk Bakery and was able to pick it up at Artist Point at SSR. It was delicious!

If you are looking for a lower cost option, try the Dollar Tree store. I stopped at one just before a birthday trip and bought several birthday decoration items. I also picked a large Disney gift bag and cut out the Happy Birthday part on each side of the bag to make two "posters". All the decorations plus a small scissors and blue painter's tape were put in a generic bag in the bottom of the luggage. The kids never noticed it. I got up early on the birthday day and decorated the room. It was a huge hit and I only spent about $10.

I agree with Publix cakes. We have gotten several over the years.

I just wanted to thank everyone who was kind enough to give me this feedback. I've looked over everything you wrote, and given what I think will work best for this child, I'm going with a Chocolate Bon Bon cake from Publix. I bought all kinds of birthday room decorations yesterday to pack and bring with me. I think she's going to really enjoy her birthday - thanks so much for your help!!
