Hi everyone,

Would you please tell me which restaurants best celebrate birthdays? The Crystal Palace provided confetti on the table, a birthday card signed by several characters, and cupcake.

Thanks, in advance, for sharing your experiences,
Jim 8O

The band at the Biergarten will announce your name and they will raise a stein to you if you let your server know.

I think it depends on your server more than the restaurant. most character meals you'll get a card signed by the characters. but where you'll find confetti, a free cupcake, or anything else specific is really about luck, I think. if you want to ensure something specific, you could always order a birthday cake in advance (you'll find pricing and design options if you search out the cake chatter thread)

With all restaurants at WDW, it's luck of the draw. We've had them recognize a birthday less than half of the time. Biergarten is one example of this. We went there for one of DS's birthday. My DH told them we were celebrating his birthday & gave them his name. We even ordered a cake to have delivered to the table. The band mentioned a couple names, but his wasn't one of them. What we got there was the server dropping of the cake & leaving. That's it! Tutto Italia & Chef Mickey's made the biggest deal of our birthdays. Some of the restaurants didn't even mention the birthday, when we didn't order a cake. My suggestion is to order a cake & plan your own celebration in case you get a server that isn't in a party mood that day.

As PP stated, Nothing is guaranteed. We go yearly in October and note our sons BD on our ADR's. Most places do nothing. There are hundreds if not thousands celebrating something every day at WDW. It is not possible to recognize all. If it is important to you plan, and pay, for something special like a BD Cake delivered to your table.

Last year we noted DD'S BD on our reservations and my and DH 's wedding anniversary. DD got a little cupcake with candle at pretty much every meal and a card signed by all characters at the character meals.

DH and I received grey stuff, a chocolate covered strawberry, free dessert, and 2 glasses of champagne at BOG but our server was just all around amazing.

We usually note celebrations but never expect anything.

Put it in the celebration and see what you get
Our trip wasn't a birthday but an engagement and it varied from a congratulations to a card and cupcakes
Chef mickeys there was an extra stop with the characters after they put the cupcake on our table

Thanks, everyone, for sharing your experiences. I am going to selected a preferred restaurant, note the celebration, and hope for the best.

BIRTHDAY-ANNIVERSARY-HONEYMOON-GRADUATION-ETC Celebrations "411":
.
1) It is a matter of the CM's personal initiative.
. . . depends upon how much they like you as a guest
. . . it always helps to wear a "Happy Birthday" or "Just Married" button
. . . depends if they feel like doing anything special today
. . . depends upon the phase of the moon
2) CM's can do a lot, or they can do nothing at all as they have immense control
. . . they are under no obligation to give goodies or even acknowledge special day
. . . they can go way overboard, give lots of gifts
. . . they have A LOT of leeway for what they will or will not do for you
. . . they can see the event if listed on the ADR or hotel ressie and you hope for the best
3) Some of the things a CM can do for free are
. . . table with Mickey confetti
. . . your name/celebration on menu at TS locations (except BOG)
. . . best table location
. . . special personalized menu
. . . character-autographed birthday cards
. . . balloons
. . . balloon animals
. . . wine or champagne or Shirley Temples
. . . room towel animals
. . . appetizers or desserts
. . . cakes
. . . cupcake with candle (almost always available for the asking)
. . . place mats autographed by characters
. . . free appy or free dessert
. . . ride an attraction with a character
. . . personalization items for the Magic Bands
5) Some other items CM's can give for free
. . . room full of balloons and/or flowers
. . . fruit basket or wine basket in hotel room
. . . individual fast passes or booklets of several fast passes
. . . food and snack items (candy, popcorn, sundries)
. . . room upgrades
. . . attraction rides with characters
6) If you really want something special, buy it yourself.
. . . eatery: carry presents in and keep/hide them in a paper bag
. . . eatery: carry a cake in, but, WDW won't prepare, store, or serve it
. . . eatery: order non-decorated cake at the eatery podium check-in
. . . eatery: order decorated cake from the WDW Cake Hotline
. . . room: order special in-room celebration decorating by Disney
. . . room: order strawberries and cream, if resort has room service
. . . room: decorate the room yourself
7) If there are multiple celebrations for people during a trip
. . . do not do separate celebration locations or tables
. . . one person may get an enthusiastic CM and get goodies
. . . one person may get a lazy CM and get nothing
8) Hundreds, or thousands, celebrate everyday at WDW.
9) It is too much time/money for CM's to attend or recognize every one of them.

There isn't a spot on ADRs to indicate a birthday or celebration if you make them online. Do I need to call with my list of ADRs and have someone put in that we are celebrating for each ADR? TIA!

We are usually asked when we are checking in for our ADR or mention it at the podium. Like others have said though it's very hit or miss if you will get any sort of celebration.
