Celebrating A 5th Birthday with Mickey & Rain,May 2009! Completed..

Wow - that is a lot of rain! Sounds like you did the best you could under the circumstances. I don't blame you for being bummed - I would have been also!

My son got chosen for the Jedi Training after three attempts. Then, in the middle of him fighting Darth Vader, it thundered...once....and they stopped the show. Next time you go, maybe ya'll will have better luck.

It looks like you guys got a good bit accomplished even though it rained for the majority of the time you were in the park.

Over our last three or four trips, I have discovered that the Downtown Disney buses to anywhere are the absoluute worse. They seem to take forever to arrive.

Looking forward to hearing about the birthday day!

Just found your trip report and have enjoyed reading it for an hour! We are going to Disney in two weeks and will be celebrating my dd's 5th birthday. We have a ds who is 8! I so hope it doesn't rain during our trip...I have looked forward to this for months! Can't wait to read the rest of your trip!

Aww, what a bummer about the rain and all the show being cancelled. I don't blame you for being disappointed.

Hope you had a good 4th of July!

Hey Nichole! Great updates as always :goodvibes I love the foodcourt at POR, Im glad you guys enjoyed it! That stinks about the rain, especially with the jedi training being canceled and all! I hope that Thomas had a nice bday despite all that bad weather! Can't wait to read more :)

My boys have those same shorts Thomas is wearing. :goodvibes Will you ever go to WDW W/O a car again? :rotfl:If you do you have to stay at an Epcot or MK resort. I would go crazy w/o my car! :scared1: You guys should have met the Up characters since they were all out. I bet now when ya go you don't meet everyone at one time. That's why I like going when there's a new movie out. We've yet to see the movie. The kids really wanna see it. How did you guys like it?

Hope ya had a fun 4th of July! We did. Went out for dinner (and I had some yummy margarita's)...then we caught the fireworks from the stadium and broadway. They were awful IMO. I guess WDW has us spoiled. I was expecting Mickey heads and all.

Oh the rain sounds horrible Nichole! At least you all managed to keep smiling for the pictures :)

It's nice that you had a little adventure going to POR for dinner. Ya know you probably wouldn't have done that if it was nice out. It's nice to try new things!

Oh man, crazy rain!!! The jedi training was canceled 4 times when we were there due to rain too. :headache:

I'll have to read back awhile now that I'm home from Vegas! :cool1:

All of these reports are making me want to go again.

I think that day was definitely the worst for the rain, just relentless. :sad2:

It is too bad that so many of the things you wanted to see/do were canceled.

Your right, that was the day we were all soaked. So many things we missed I have a list a mile long for next time.

Sounds like you made the best out of a bad day. I think I would have been in tears..... I hope his birthday in MK goes better! :goodvibes

I was :sad2: about it but mother nature was not cooperating. MK day goes okay for a little bit at least.

Great update! So sorry about the rain!Hopefully things improve for Thomas' Birthday!

Thanks :goodvibes. It improved for a short time.

Just Stopping by to say Hi!!

Hi Rosie :)

Awww, I am sorry about all the rain! I know Thomas wanted to do the Jedi Training Academy!

I hope the rain got better!:goodvibes

Hi Heather. Thomas was bummed about Jedi Training but hopefully next time he will get to see it. The rain improves for a short time at least.

Yep--it rained ELEVEN inches that day (we were in AK). It WAS horrible--you shouldn't be embarassed about being upset--it was NO fun!! I'm so sorry Thomas didn't get to do the Jedi Training Academy. I'm praying he had a good birthday at MK! Can't wait to hear more!!

Thanks Becky,
That was the worst day wasn't it? I think most of us were upset. I guess because we got nothing done this trip. I wish we stayed until Staurday so Thomas could have at least went to SWW at HS :goodvibes then I would have felt like we got something accomplished. I was to the point of praying about the weather . I just wanted one day of not being soaked. But I did get a half day at least on Wednesday.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels sick after Star Tours. Even my Mother can ride it with no problem which makes me feel like a wuss.

The bus ride from POR sounds very frustrating. We encountered an hour wait once at BB and it really does ruin the "Magic of Disney" feeling.

Oh, and yes I am doing a TR for our trip to DLR for our DD's 5th birthday the same week. The link is in my sig.

Star Tours is just too bumpy, I'm getting old  I guess. The buses were just not good at SSR pretty much the entire trip. I read your trip yesterday. Your girls are beautiful! I want to go to DLR sometime.

Wow - that is a lot of rain! Sounds like you did the best you could under the circumstances. I don't blame you for being bummed - I would have been also!

Exactly, we were bummed but made the best of it :goodvibes.

It rained 11 inches that day :scared:. We did the best we could with the weather being just awful. That stinks that your DS didn't get to finish his turn fighting Darth Vadar after waiting to get picked 3 times . I agree DTD buses are always longer waits.

Thats sucks about the rain. Glad to hear you had a good time anyway.

Thanks . We did the best we could.

Hi there :goodvibes,
Thanks for reading and glad you are enjoying it despite that it was not our best trip. I hope you have great weather pixiedust:for your DD's birthday! I expected afternoons storms but not a total wash out. Our kids are the same ages, it's just reversed. have a great trip!!

Aww, what a bummer about the rain and all the show being cancelled. I don't blame you for being disappointed.

Hope you had a good 4th of July!

I was dissapointed :goodvibes but now I'm really wanting to go back again. We had a great 4th of July! Hope your's was good as well.

Hi Lauren
Thanks. Thomas still had a good Birthday, he was in Disney :goodvibes. The foodcourt at POR is great!

My boys have those same shorts Thomas is wearing. :goodvibes Will you ever go to WDW W/O a car again? :rotfl:If you do you have to stay at an Epcot or MK resort. Thanks Tammy,

We had a great 4th too. Usually I like Margarita's, just didn't love that one I got in Epcot. It sems as far as Fireworks nothing will even come close to Disney's. The Up movie was great! We saw it in 3D. I was already teary eyed 5 minutes into the movie. I told Tom to take Thomas over to get in line for the Up characters at HS. They said the line was too long. This morning Thomas said he wanted to see them :sad2: figures. Not sure where we will stay next time. We will have our car there though. If not Poly or BC then well probably go back to CBR.

Oh the rain sounds horrible Nichole! At least you all managed to keep smiling for the pictures :)

Thanks:goodvibes
I tried my best to be happy because we couldn't change the weather. That is true, we never would have went to POR if it was nice out. Probably would have went to DTD on the boat from SSR or to Mk that night. It was a good foodcourt.

Hi Shawna,
Sorry to hear that Jedi Training was canceled for you too :goodvibes. How was Vegas? Glad to have you on board. TR's make me want to go back too ;). It's so addicting :rolleyes1.

Vegas was a blast. I wont bore your readers with all of the info but I'll have pictures up on my FB soon!

We almost headed to DL just after Vegas. Total spur of the moment thing BUT the crowd levels on the 4th kept me from doing that. Then I heard it wasn't that bad!!! OF COURSE! :lmao:

Awww Nichole! I'm sorry the rain had you so down. I can totally understand - after a while, you are just cold, wet, soggy, and tired of dealing with it! On the positive end, you guys got to see a lot of characters that day! :thumbsup2 (Trying to see the glass half-full here :goodvibes). I'm hoping that the MK at least has a little bit of dry weather for you! Fingers crossed! :rolleyes1

Love the Sci-Fi! It's just so "disney" to me! Sorry about the bus situation - I know how much you were worried about not having a car! Oh well, live and learn, right? Sometimes you have to do things, just so that you know not to do them again!

Sara

Hey Nichole! Great update, even if it was a little bit wet.

Too bad the Jedi Training got canceled. It sure looks like you guys made the best of the situation that day though and you all still look happy in the pictures.

Hope you had a great 4th! :goodvibes

Glad you had a good time. I would have been tempted to go to DL too :goodvibes
Figures you decided not too and then the crowds were not bad anyway.

Thanks Sara,
We tried to see the glass half full the entire time. Now that I'm home I'm probably more towards the glass half empty side. But then I just tell myself, at least we got to go back to Disney for Thomas' Birthday. Well get back, just not sure when. Tom said there is no way he can miss a week with everything going on right now. So not until summer at least, but there is a slim possibility we might fly down for a weekend, just us.

We did see a good amount of characters but we missed a lot too. We loved Sci Fi. The food was pretty good and it was a nice break from the rain :goodvibes. Yes we need a car next time, unless we stay at an MK or Epcot resort.

Hi Michelle,
Thanks we had a great 4th of July, hope you did as well :goodvibes. Thomas was bummed about Jedi Training. But hopefully next year we can see and hopefully get pixie dust and he gets picked. He loves Star Wars. We made the best of it. Still I would rather be in Disney then at home, even in the monsoon .

DAY 5 HAPPY BIRTHDAY THOMAS...:bday:

We all woke up to our usual Stitch wake up call. Thomas can do a perfect imitation of Stitch, its so funny. Anyway we had a quick breakfast. Thomas opened the only surprise present he would be getting in Disney and his Birthday card. Back home he had a POC Pirate ship waiting for him, as well as he already built a light Saber and would be getting a gift card from Disney this morning to pick out more stuff. But remember I had secretly bought him an E wok when we were at DTD. Of course he loved him as he looks just like our dog Brandy. I can't believe my baby is five :sad2: already!

We quickly got ready as we didn't want to be late for Magic Kingdom!!! This is where the morning starts to go downhill for me. I got the kids ready and of course was late getting out of the shower and I knew the darn bus situation was not good. Tommy decided to head to the bus stop without me. Kaylee of course didn't want to go with them which messeds things up even further. I wasn't feeling my best today as Aunt Flo was visiting so of course extra Grumpy too. I did my best to be extra happy as it was not raining yet :dance3:which made me very happy. I got dressed quickly and started to pack my park bag, when Tom called and said a bus was pulling up for Mk and we should walk quickly over to the Springs Stop so we could make it on that one. I hadn't even put on any makeup yet so I just grabbed my bag figuring I got do it on the bus. Yes I do wear at least a little waterproof mascara, powder, and lip gloss to the parks. I have blond lashes and look a bit washed out without it. Anyway Kaylee and grabbed our tickets and ran to the Springs bust stop. I was already sweaty just from our little run. As the bus was pulling in I put both of our tickets in my bag and realized I forgot my makeup bag and sunglasses. I was annoyed as when I rush I get further behind add. I put Kaylee on the bus and told them I would run back and get my stuff and catch the next bus which we know how that was working for me. Tom calls me during my walk back and says duhh you forgot to give me Kaylee's pass :headache:. I told him I would call when I was on a bus and to just head to guest services and get Thomas' Giftcard and Maybe they can also issue a pass for Kaylee if they looks it up. Finally got my stuff and got to the bus stop and took a deep breathe. The bus came in about 15 minutes. I got there right as the morning show started and found my family. Tommy got everything taken of with Kay's ticket and Thomas gift card . Since becoming hypothyroid I can be very forgetful and unorganized. It seems like I have so much trouble remembering or concentrating. Anyway rant over and ready for a day of MK!

The CM dropped the rope and off to the next rope drop we went. Only the castle walk way was closed and we had to line up near liberty square and go up the little bridge. Well we missed the first Dumbo ride of the day which puts us behind knowing Kaylee and I would need to get on line for the Fairies early. I rode with Thomas.

Disney2009156.jpg

Disney2009157.jpg

After Dumbo we rode Peter Pan which is a family favorite. Then we rode the carousel. Kaylee was of course looking for Cindy's horse.

Disney2009159.jpg

After the Carousel Tom and figured out our plans. Thomas did not want to see Fairies or Princesses :rolleyes1. So I gave Tom a few suggestions on things they can do while Kaylee and I were waiting/ meeting Tinker Bell. We lined up about 15 minutes early and there were a few people waiting. Most of them were huge fans of Tink and one group of grown up girls had the cutest matching Tink shirts. They even gave Kaylee an extra set of printed cards with the Fairies pics on them for them to autograph. Very sweet of them! Kaylee was very thankful and loved this idea. So she used the cards instead of her autograph book. When the CM dropped the rope we all briskly walked to Pixie Hollow. We were third on line which was great. We met Tink, Iridessa, and Rossetta. They were just adorable. Kaylee was hoping for Silvermist but was happy to meet the ones she did.

Tinker Bell is my favorite so I had to get in the picture. Even though I did not want to stand next to someone so petite. She did make me pose though.

After pixie hollow. I asked Kaylee about meeting the Princesses since the line was short. Of course she said no she didn't feel like it. I called Tommy to see where he and Thomas were. They were just finishing Mickey's and would meet us out front. While we met the Fairies Thomas and Tommy FP ed and rode Winnie the Pooh, rode the Tomorrow Land Speedway, Tea Cups and went in Mickey's house. Kaylee really wanted to ride the speedway so we planned on going again later. Here are Tommy's pics.
