I need some help planning my DH's 35th birthday dinner. Our DD5 and DD1 will be dining with us. I am trying to decide between Whispering Canyon for the fun or Le Cellier for the food. Also maybe Coral Reef. Can anyone help me decide?

Don't count out WC for food. That restaurant has become a staple for our trips! The food is good (the skillet is hard to pass up!), which should make DH happy and the atmosphere is very kid friendly which will make the DDs enjoy it too. Bottomless milkshakes and fabulous desserts make it a winner for everybody. I've never been to LeCellier, but I hear it's small and somewhat cramped, but then the food is supposed to be good. We're going to try it out on our trip in October.

LeCellier has amazing food, but is really hard to get a dinner reservation at (at least it was when I booked for our trip last May). It's definitely more on the formal end of Disney dining, but it's Disney, so nothing is really that un-kid friendly. The tables are definitely pretty close together -- Dbf and I could hear every word at either table next to us. I haven't been to WC.

Hoop-De-Doo Revue for birthdays is so much fun!!! It is already a festive atmosphere, and if you let them know that it is his birthday ahead of time (sneak off to the bathroom and tell someone) they will do a thorough job of embarassing him! (in a good way):rotfl2:

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately this is our first trip and I did not realize how far out these places get booked:confused3 . For a reasonable time, I could not get any of those suggestions. I had to settle for Prime Time Cafe. It will work out well since we were planning to be at MGM that day anyway. Does this restaurant do anything special for birthdays or should I keep trying to see if an ADR opens for one of the others?

Prime Time Cafe is definitely one of the more themed/interactive restaurants. I've never been there for a birthday, but I bet if you told your server about it, they could come up with something. Afterall, this is the restaurant that tells you to eat all your vegetables and makes people sing I'm a Little Teapot if they put their elbows on the table! And, according to my dad and sister who went a few months ago, the food is really good too. I'm sure you'll have a great time!
