Update: I was able to get flights changed. Barcelona to JFK with a 2:30 layover before flying to Detroit. I feel much better about the time.

I just received my flight info from DCl. I will be returning to Detroit from a cruise ending in Barcelona. I booked Disney air.

These are the flights

barcelona to CDG (Paris) depart 10:25 arrive 12:20 in Terminal 2F

Paris to Detroit depart 13:35in Terminal E

My question is: Will I have enough time to make the connection? Will I have to clear customs? I have found conflicting info.

I understand that I will have to a shuttle to the other terminal.
Any tips or suggestions would be very helpful.

Thanks

You have 3 hours? Yes, you will have time. CDG is not the easiest airport to navigate but 3 hours is a long time.

Not 3 hours, a little over one hour. She arrives at CDG at 12:20 and departs at 13:35.

I'd be very nervous about that sort of connection, even if it wasn't an international flight.

Oh sorry, yes, I read the departure time of 10:25 as the arrival time.

I'd be worried about this short of a connection also. I try not to do this short of a connection on international flights.

I missed a connection in CDG a few years ago. However, we were flying from the U.S, and not the other way around.

We took the kids to Spain and had a connection of around and hour and 15 minutes or so. I remember when I spoke the Air France rep, he said we would make it. Ha! After we deplaned on the tarmac and were shuttled to the terminal (standard procedure), we had to hustle to go through customs and get to the next terminal. We got there with 15 minutes to spare. However, this was a flight where we had to go out on the tarmac to get on the plane. The gate agent said it was too late to do that. So, we missed the connection and had to wait 7 hours for the next flight!

Just over an hour in that airport makes me very nervous.

CDG is a PITA!

Yes, you have to clear customs first and then get to the next terminal.

I would be very worried about this connection.

That is going to be a TIGHT connection. From what I recall of 2F --> 2E, you will not have to go through customs, but you will need to go through security again when you get to 2E. There is a direct shuttle, but you might have a hard time making it in 1 hour. Especially if they close the doors early.

Since both Spain and France are Schengen countries, you should not have to go through customs/immigration in Paris (you will go through US customs/immigration when you land in Detroit), which helps.

How often are there flights from Paris to Detroit? Is Detroit your final destination, or are you continuing somewhere? It is tighter than I would like, unless, there are plenty of other flights that I could get onto if I were to miss mine (always a factor for me, when choosing connecting flights).

You will not need to go through customs/immigration but you will need to go through security which can be a nightmare! I did it last year with a 1.5 hour layover and the security queue took 1.5 hours to get through!! I had two young children with me and fortunately they held the flight for us, but this isn't a given.

Sorry but I can't *stand* CDG (many many bad experiences there!) and will do my best to not fly to/through it.
