In terms of the J&J both of my boys got it. We are of the mind get what we can rather than wait around. My one son needed it to be a 1 and done and my other son was reluctant but willing to get the J&J. Take what you can get.

ETA: In our house 3 people have gotten Pfizer, 1 Moderna and 2 J&J. We like to try a little of everything.

.Yes, they relaxed for a small situation of photos outside distanced. But indoor masks, stationary eating and drinking, masks on rides, etc are all the same.

So just to be clear, the word "relaxing" in this case- by definition- means exactly what I said: "making a rule less strict while not abolishing it".

That's exactly what they did. Mango, your comment above includes EVERYTHING. If that had been the case, the word "relax" wouldn't apply.

Woohoo, I am officially DONE stalking vaccine appointment sites! Found a J&J appointment for my husband at a rural Walmart on our way home from our Up North trip this weekend, so he gets the one-and-done vaccine and the rest of us just have to wait for our already-scheduled second shots. DD19 got hers yesterday, mine is on the 22nd, DS23's is on the 29th, and then we'll all be done except the one kid who is still waiting for FDA approval for her age group.

3,374,600 J&J shots were distributed between yesterday and today. Yesterday's J&J total vaccine distributed was 8,693,900 and today's it is 12,068,500. Only 4,299,901 J&J shots have been administered so that means there are 7,768,599 J&J shots out there to be put in arms. That is about 2.3% of the population. They were expected to deliver 20 million doses by the end of March. The government was expecting 11 million doses last week. Looks like the big drop will be this week. Let's see how many more get distributed throughout the week. If they deliver enough to meet their initial 20 million dose commitment this week, that would mean 15,700,099 J&J shots out there to get in arms.

Yeah, but they're being targeted to certain areas, at least in my state, so the odds of getting one depends on where you live.

I've been trying for weeks to get a J&J appointment in the Detroit area with no luck. I finally succeeded this afternoon after complaining to a friend who works for one of the state's retail pharmacy partners about not being able to find it anywhere. She told me that their company is sending the J&J shots to lower-volume stores (so not in the major metros) and using Pfizer/Moderna in the higher-volume locations. Since we're going to be traveling this weekend I put our route and destination into a vaccine finder site and low and behold, up popped a couple dozen available J&J appointment times at several rural locations. They're all 2+ hours from home but only minutes out of our way on the drive, so I snapped one up and we'll stop on our way home to get DH vaccinated at last.

Yeah I'm not getting the comments? I took what you said to mean "relax" the rules...not abolish them...

There's a group of DISers we are friends with and see in person and we were talking on the day my husband and I got our first dose that all of us got Pfizer. There is one person left in our DISer group without a vaccine because he's gen pop and will be soon eligible in a few days but we were all joking that he better not break our Pfizer chain lol.

Seriously this was the names we started throwing out there for our group:

"Vacc twins"
"Pfizer family"
Then it was "should we start street gangs where Pfizer people duke it out with J&J, can do some old fashioned dance battles"
"Pfizer DIS mob"
"The fighting Pfizers take on the Jets!"

Ahh I seriously love these peeps...take getting a vaccine into a laughfest.

As far as I know only my mother-in-law and step-father-in-law have gotten Moderna with everyone else I know getting Pfizer. I think my husband knows a coworker or two with J&J though.

I *think* it's just because it was ambiguous. This thread sorta operates with being too happy about things, being too gloomy about things, and then stuff in the middle. I kinda got what the original poster who commented was getting at. You can make any sort of argument that of course it's factually correct that Disney relaxed part of their mask rule and I didn't see anyone comment otherwise. But perception is everything as we all know. So saying Disney relaxed their mask rule rather than saying Disney now allows you to briefly remove your mask, while staying socially distant and stationary, to take a quick photo can give a completely different outlook. You still aren't supposed to walk around without your mask, take vlogs, or photos walking around without your mask presently speaking. And knowing that poster they tend to operate on the being too happy about things (neutral statement just telling it like it is) so I can understand the rush to be like "well..actually it's more..." IYKWIM? I don't think the first comment or ensuing discussion was meant to be anything other than just clearing up what actually changed.

Totally agree. If someone posted something like ”cases uptick in my state” they would be peppered with “you can’t look at one day, you didn’t post the 7 day averages, whats the trend, don’t be so gloomy, etc”. Which I get, but what they technically said was factual. The reverse holds true, and I and others were just pointing that out. More information is better.

Don’t get me wrong, I am so ready to have tons of people vaccinated, numbers drop, and not have the need to wear a mask at Disney so I can walk around Epcot with an adult beverage and not be stationary 😀

Yeah don't love the "don't be so gloomy" stuff either because it's usually targeted at me :rotfl2:(didn't mean from this poster, just that I'm negative in general).

Anyways I would love to debate semantics longer but I feel like I need to save my energy just in case anyone wants a good vaccine/mask/lockdown argument later. I'd rather just agree to disagree on this one (but for the record, *I* actually am right! Just saying! LOL).

A local community college is giving all employees (full, part-time and student employees) $250 to get a vaccine. They said it's estimated 1,500 out of the 2,000 employees will be getting the vaccine. Apparently the funds to do this are largely coming from health insurance program premium rebate. I like that it's all employees. They have the option to donate the money to a program that aids in providing meals to those in need or taking the whole amount straight up and there's no judgement either way.

Same for us. 2 Moderna, 2 JnJ and one Pfizer.

From a new Gallup survey: only 21% of Americans over 65 say they are worried about getting Covid. This coincides nicely with the % of them that are vaccinated, but more importantly, it indicates they are heading back into society as they get their shots.

I heard it’s coming in March. Just wait.

Our state put out a kind of good, middle and worst case scenario for the short term based on what they think is the NYC variant spreading in my state. I really hope we don't see a serious fourth wave. But these variants are causing the spread of this virus and infecting people who have been unable to get the vaccine to date. Our hospital in my town has a lot of Covid right now. In my household of two humans who are just 25% vaccinated, we're still taking it very seriously.

The good news here- at least according to Gottleib- is that most of the new cases are younger people. Not to say, of course, older/higher risk people aren't still getting sick.

Or middle aged people. My niece's good friend, lost her Father on Friday to Covid....he was in my town's hospital for 26 days on a ventilator. She's 16, and as the oldest is having to take on a lot of responsibility because her Mother isn't fluent in English. Her father was in his early 50s, no pre-existing conditions, worked on a landscaping crew. This kid is helping to set up local funeral and arrangements to transport her Father back to his home country of Mexico for burial. She set up a go fund me and so hopefully that will help them. I can't help but think how much this young girl's life has changed in a blink.

And don't get me wrong, I get it....we need to move forward. I read that California is fully opening up everything on June 15th I believe. So, that's certainly saying something. I guess it's just especially sad to me to still be hearing of people in my circle or outer circle....passing this far into this mess. This man had plans to get the vaccine, but wasn't able to get it yet.

Absolutely agreed- we are NOT out of this yet. There's no doubt.
