Disney World just relaxed mask rules starting April 8.
Should put the actual information in there :)

"Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 2 and up) and Cast Members, including those who have received a COVID-19 vaccine. Please bring your own face coverings and wear them at all times, except when dining or swimming. You may temporarily remove your face covering while actively eating, drinking or taking an outdoor photo (beginning April 8th), but you must be stationary and maintain appropriate physical distancing during this time."

Relaxing mask rules makes it sound a LOT different than what they are actually allowing.

Kinda sounds more like a reaction to people wanting to take photos without masks more than anything. It's not like you can just run amuck (pun intended lol) around the parks without a mask or that people are exempted from wearing the masks.

They'll get there though with dropping the masks entirely, we know that.

So basically the only difference is you can take a photo without your mask. Everything else is the same right? This doesn’t seem like significant relaxing of mask rules.

My wife got her first dose today. Originally she has only wanted the J&J vaccine, but I was able to talk her into the Moderna one.

I am torn. I'm not sure if I should just get the J&J or hold out for moderna or Pfizer. Most clinics around here are using J&J. We must have received a big shipment. I could wait, for one of the better two, but I don't want to pass up an opportunity to get vaccinated.

Maybe they can ask at the school- in Ohio, DeWine has already announced they'll be doing vaccinations right on campus.
The school announced that they were in the preliminary stages. One of the state sites is right on campus, but it’s very difficult to get an appointment there. He and I will keep looking. Since he graduates mid-May, he’ll need his first dose soon so that he doesn’t have to travel back for dose 2. Having him scheduled here for mid-May still makes me feel so good!

I agree. It is, however, classic Disney - they're ending a common friction point between CMs and guests, which will allow CMs to concentrate on riskier and more blatant mask non-compliance and let guests have the "win" on an element that many consider both important to family travels and significantly lesser because of mask wearing. And at the same time, it undermines all those viral photos of some random unmasked person captioned with "so much for Disney's mask mandate!" that have gone around periodically ever since they reopened. Minimal change, great PR.

There seems to be a J&J shortage here. When booking for my wife, the only thing that was available was Moderna. If J&J was available I would have booked it for her.

Same. My husband has been wanting to hold out for J&J because of a history of anaphylaxis and because a single dose would be easier to fit into his schedule, but he decided this week that between the total lack of J&J supply and the skyrocketing cases around us, he's willing to roll the dice on Pfizer/Moderna just to get vaccinated sooner.

I agree with this! Yes its only baby steps, but its still baby steps. It is step 1 in getting to at least masks only inside/in line and on rides which I still believe will happen by Oct 1st. I could be wrong but with the rate vaccinations are going and Fauci today saying he doesn't believe a 4th surge will happen, he did say we can see a small increase in cases but he isn't expecting it to be a a true surge will help put Disney in the position to loosen even more sooner than later.

I was told by a doctor to get the Pfizer one if I could. Of course, getting one is better than not getting one. I was able to get the first Pfizer one. Now I get the second on the 20th. I’m ready to be done getting poked.

Sorry I just thought the actual statement from Disney should be put out there. Didn't realize that was a problem by doing that

The other two aren't better.

3,374,600 J&J shots were distributed between yesterday and today. Yesterday's J&J total vaccine distributed was 8,693,900 and today's it is 12,068,500. Only 4,299,901 J&J shots have been administered so that means there are 7,768,599 J&J shots out there to be put in arms. That is about 2.3% of the population. They were expected to deliver 20 million doses by the end of March. The government was expecting 11 million doses last week. Looks like the big drop will be this week. Let's see how many more get distributed throughout the week. If they deliver enough to meet their initial 20 million dose commitment this week, that would mean 15,700,099 J&J shots out there to get in arms.

There’s not a problem by posting actual information. It was helpful! Just posting “Disney relaxed the mask rules” is a bit misleading...kind of like those misleading, clickbait headlines that are railed against on this thread. Yes, they relaxed for a small situation of photos outside distanced. But indoor masks, stationary eating and drinking, masks on rides, etc are all the same.

I think it’s great they are allowing photos without masks...like someone else said it helps the CMs. Low risk, high reward.
