A German ethics panel (whatever that is) has determined that it is unfair to ease restrictions for people who have been vaccinated.

I suspect this boat wouldn't float in the US.
Unfair fair whom? Businesses, employees, students....?

Are they talking until everyone has the chance to get the vaccine or forever?

Hope you feel better today. I have read several reports where people say the second dose gives them flu like symptoms for one day.

I actually have a fever now. Couldn't sleep all night due to aches, but those are getting better. I'm sure fever will go away today too.

Bingo. How about to bars, live event venues, employees of the many soccer teams that have been playing in empty buildings...???
A vaccine as an express ticket back to "normal fun" will likely add some fraud into the equation.
I'm not arguing either way, but the folks who are ready to go see The Weeknd, bar hop and attend a soccer game generally aren't ages 65-100+.

Patience everyone.... Last week the Biden Administration increased vaccine distribution by 16%. This week they announced they are increasing by another 6%. That's a 20% increase in the last two weeks. Pfizer and Moderna have both said they would have their pledged 200,000,000 doses each by the end of March. I bet the ramp up continues over the next few weeks and really gains momentum by the end of the month. Looks like Fauci is really advocating to speed things up to try and beat the variants spread. I would not be surprised if corporations start purchasing the vaccine directly from the pharmaceutical companies for their employees. I am sure they are trying now but the government contracts take priority.

It is killing the hospitality, tourism and entertainment industries. Many have folded and even more won't survive.. That's lot of jobs lost.

Just to note this isn't because of Biden. This would have happened either way. This is very much on the manufacturers getting more product out. I hate that this gets political when it shouldn't be.

Your encouraging post is appreciated. I am hoping we are getting closer to having far more available vaccine.

It would be unfair when you have no control over when you can get vaccinated. Especially for some people whose state have told them it'd be fall by the time they get it. For me I'm expected May-June

I agree.

But it could also be used as a tool of sorts when vaccine is available to all. Sort of an incentive to convince those that still won't get it - want to travel here? - get vaccinated. Want to fly this airline? - get vaccinated.
Want to not wear a mask outside? - get vaccinated...you catch my drift. :D

Eventually they are going to have to start lifting restrictions when vaccine is readily available. I can predict very large protests worldwide if they don't.

Do you have a link for this? I’m curious to read the full context and I am not finding anything on google. Thank you!

My DD has an Associates in Pastry Arts and a Bachelors in Restaurant Business Management. It’s what we’ve always thought of as a solid career especially here is Vegas. I mean, folks are always going to need to eat right? She’s been building her resume and contacts since she was 17 years old. In ‘normal’ times that would mean make a few phone calls and she’d have her pick of jobs. But right now she couldn’t score a dishwasher’s job here if she tried. My best friend, a chef in this city for thirty five years is currently spending his time playing video games and watching Netflix. There are no hospitality jobs to be had.

I heard the story on CNBC this morning and you're right- I can't find a link. I'll keep checking.

Personally I believe we should open up what we can....save jobs and move back to normal (as possible.) Otherwise it will take much longer to recover. Can't see us all lining up at the starting gate waiting for the bell.

And OMG these poor kids especially those already at a disadvantage. Talk about unfair.

I don't think you'll find a person around who isn't of the viewpoint of "when widely available". We haven't even been vaccinating for 2 months for heaven's sake. Give it time people (general statement, not aimed at you at all). But you do still have to consider people who cannot get the vaccine. You do have to create a checks and balance for situations like that. Flying? We really want to tell someone they can't fly because they can't get a vaccine?

I'm not against countries, which have already started this like Seychelles, welcoming vaccinated people without quarantines, that may potentially boost tourism although private airplanes are the easier way to get there at this point with all the testing requirements with flights. But it's just not the same when applied to the U.S. as a whole, especially now.
