CCVC studio availability

Luckily I got on the Low end of 140’s with 150 points in Sept 2019 use year. As I continue to educate myself, not quiiiite the fire sale deal I thought I was getting :)

Worst case 1Br every other year at CC (banking points and then using current year, etc). But a studio more often wouldn’t be horrible either.

That’s great to know about the other locations. Love BW and would always be happy with that as a secondary option.

I mean it's still a good deal over a direct purchase with a small contract. Still 15-20% of a discount on direct which is a great deal. Plus it is now "sold-out" and the price was increasing to 210 a point June 1 (if it hasn't it shouldn't be much longer).

BW pool/garden view is pretty open for studios at 7 months outside of fall frenzy (October to mid-January). 1 Beds are open more frequently than studios all around. This is a great thread on availability https://www.disboards.com/threads/p...-studios-1-bedrooms-june-2018-update.3689931/

I will admit seeing 210 makes me feel even better. There is the hedge against inflation as these points are not getting cheaper direct.

Quick ? Any specifics for why fall-Dec is so busy/popular for DVC? I would have assumed prime season was warmer weather/school being out. I’ve always enjoyed Sept/Oct and found it’s never that busy. But maybe I’ll answer my own question and it's simply everything going on that time of year. Halloween party, food and wine, Xmas decor, school out etc

DVC members are frugal so they want the cheap points so it led to DVC being a bit more popular then the cash guests at certain times. There is also MVMCP, MNSSHP, Food and Wine, Food and Wine Race, Christmas decorations, and Marathon Weekend just as you said.

Lol. “Frugal”. Funny. Yet so true. So they are all doing what I planned to do. Maximize the points. Glad I’m learning now. Pay up front. Buy those points and have options!

A lot of points were sold there against cabins with most owners looking to book studios.

I have a question, looking for some context. Were PVB studios also difficult for owners to book in the first couple years because of the bungalows?

Or is it because there are so many more studios at PVB (looks like 360 studios to 20 bungalows) vs CCV (42 dedicated + 36 possible lockoff studios, to 26 cabins)?

Also, I was just checking @skier_pete’s availability chart, and it looks like VGF studios are maybe more difficult for owners to book than PVB? Any ideas how that might compare to CCV?

Poly is easier due to proportionality. There are still times of year where 11 months should be respected and lived. But you are unlikely yo be frozen out at 8:01am.

No. PVB was not ever like CCV. Since it sold out there have gotten to be a few times like the first week of Dec and Wine and Dine that you need to book right at 8am at 11 months.
VGF also didn't start like CCV although studios certainly went faster than other accommodations. In its first year I booked the first week of Dec in a studio at 7 months. You can't do that now but you never could do it with CCV.

I’m sure the more knowledge available has exacerbated the problems. Plus the ability to do modifications online.

I’ve long shared my exact thoughts of that and think it’s been a bigger contributor to the tighter availability than people think. Back with phoning in it was very cumbersome to search for other rooms or times. Now the availability calendar makes it very easy and if people have any flexibility they can dive in on reservations they never would have found calling in.

Yeah being able to see rooms disappear around the times you want creates anxiety which creates the feeling that you need to book right away.

I think you are right for sure.

Studios were gone at 8:05 this morning for 11 months.

I couldn’t imagine the frustration for the people who purchased small point contracts thinking they would be able to book a studio without any issues.

At least that means they were available at 8:03 :) what does a small point contract have to do with studios?

If you have 75 points, studios are really your only option. Unless you want 3 days in a two bedroom every other year.

Im seeing them open right now for the week of May 27th.

Im sure the BRV owners would not appreciate this but I think CCV owners who cant book a studio within 48 hours of their 11th month window should be allowed to book at BRV at 11 months. Disney knowingly "oversold" a very small property.

Got it. But a family of 2 with 500 points would still most likely only book a studio to extend out their trip. A 1BR in that case is a luxury and the choice becomes a value proposition. But i get what you are saying...there is no backup option with less points. What I am gathering is it seems like many buyers fall into the trap set by Disney... "look, you can travel during low season, and get 5 nights for only x points". Reality is that there are many factors involved to get what you want, most of which require planning, banking, and borrowing.
