CC vs BR...When is BR refurb complete?

Hi Disfriends!

I'm feeling very scattered. Long story short, DH and I currently have a CC 1 bedroom villa booked for our runDisney trip scheduled for November 1-7. I'm now wondering if we'd like BR better? I have watched a few CC 1 bedroom YouTube videos, and while they look nice, the galley kitchen looks small, and there doesn't seem to be a lot of closet space anywhere in the villa. We are running with another couple and we'll be spending lots of time with them on the trip. They are staying at Pop, but we'd like to have them over to visit, and I fear the CC villa might seem small with guests visiting.

If I switch to a BR one bedroom, will the refurb be done by the beginning of November? In other words, we will be guaranteed to get a refurbed villa? I've seen YouTube videos of the BR one bedrooms, and the new ones seem really nice. If I make the switch, I'd really like to have an updated one.

Are there other things I need to consider before making the switch from CC to BR? DH and I have never stayed anywhere at WL before, so this is all new territory.

Thanks so much!!

@ehh awesome! Good to know! Would you recommend that we stay put or switch? A BR 1 bedroom was available earlier today, and now it's not. I can definitely start "stalking" if a switch is recommended.

I'll defer to others who have stayed at both.

But based YouTube room tours I would pick BRV for my family.

We were at Boulder Ridge in late March in a one bedroom. It was a great room. Leading up to the trip, I could hardly find any room tours, so I shot my own. You can see it here.

A few things about the room that I liked.
  1. Dining area was great. Really like the large seat.
  2. Murphy bed was amazing for my seven year old. We spent the first few nights at AKL. The pullout sofas need serious help.
  3. The bed in the master was so comfortable. We were the third family to stay in our room, so it was basically brand new.
Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Finding an opening will be the issue -- that November race weekend (Thurs to Sun) is an extremely high DVC demand time, so if you want to switch, you should both waitlist and then also start stalking to see if BRV opens. The BRV refurbed rooms are now more desirable than CCV, where the 1BR is smaller and you still have the pull-out couch. As far as other differences, both have full access to anything at WL -- with BRV, it can just take a little longer to get to things like the WL lobby, main pool, and restaurants.

CCV are very small in comparison. Unless you just need a short walk to get to the lobby the BRV villa are better in every other way(except maybe views). We've stayed at CCV 6 times. 2 x studio and 4 x 1 bedrooms. Also the CCV rooms are slowly starting to show their age with minor dings and scratches here and there.

We love WL, and own at CCV. It sure looks like they did a great job on the BRV refurbishing. It was long overdue!
I usually book at 11 months, so our next rip I may look to modify to BRV at 7 months just to try it out.

BR has a larger living room area, we found the CC living area less comfortable (when we had 5 in a 2BR.). I would switch if it is possible.

We have not stayed at BRV but have stayed at CCV many times (usually in 2 bedrooms). I think the most people we had visiting in the living room / kitchen area was 9 people (7 adults / 2 kids). It did not feel cramped. Now those people were visiting with us, not staying in the room with us (staying in the room we had a 2 bedroom w/ 5 adults and 2 kids). We've had a similar number of guests visit at Riviera and the layout of the kitchen / living space is similar to CCV. I don't think there will be a huge difference in terms of space with a one bedroom, considering that extra room in the 2 bedroom is used for sleeping. Now that BRV is refurbed, the big difference between the 2 rooms is the convenience and comfort of the murphy beds (if you are sleeping more people and plan to use them) as well as the showers. Looking at the videos, it seems BRV did not get the rain shower that is at Poly, VGF, RIV and CCV. So for me, the decision would be whether we need to use the murphy bed. CCV is very nice and is in the main resort building. BRV is not far at all from the main resort building. I don't think you can go wrong with either since it sounds like you will not be using the murphy bed.

Nice video.
Just to comment about the wasted space where you thought that there should probably be a chair or something.
You must have been in a 1-bedroom dedicated villa, not a lock-off. That corner is where the lock-off door would normally be, so they couldn't put a chair there. They probably wanted to have the same furniture in all 1-br villas, although it would have been nice if they would have put something there in the 1br dedicated villas.
