Hello everyone. First time cruising with Disney. We will be in CC NYE. I have some questions regarding CC:

What is the weather like at the end of December? Planning if we need to bring jackets

Do they have umbrellas/chairs that we can rent? Do they run out of umbrellas or chairs if you get out of the boat late.

Can you reserve the chairs early?

Since this is the first time on the Disney cruise line we dont have priority in booking the cabanas. I check regularly to rent one but its still booked. I will have to wait till i get on the waiting list on the boat.

TIA for all your input and advice

There are umbrellas/chairs for all to use - no rent. There are LOTS of umbrellas/chairs. When arriving at the beach(es) the further you walk away from the ship, the more of them.

No reservations for chairs (also, no saving of chairs).

2 years ago NYE cruise (Dream) it was sunny & in the 80s on Castaway Cay, This past NYE cruise (Dream) it was in the 70s & windy. We only brought sweat shirts for walking around the deck during the evening. Chairs, lounges & umbrellas are first come first served, but we've never had an issue, of course we usually get off early.

But it's the weather, who knows what it might be like this year. :confused3

Tell that to the completely insane woman on Tuesday who claimed that I stole her chair and her umbrella. She even sought out a crew member to help her with the chair and umbrella "theft." When they wouldn't help her she asked for a manager (!?!?)

Welcome to your first visit to a truly world class private island!! Hope you can explore and see what you can (renting a bike can be a lot of fun sightseeing).

Anyway, to answer your questions…

Weather is, unfortunately, variable. Last year we were there about the time you were, and it was a cool day. Many stayed onboard, not a lot went swimming, and some wore light jackets. Yet, 2 days before we got there, the CMs told us how hot and perfect the weather was. For a NYE arrival you just need to be ready to roll with it.

No umbrellas or chairs for rent (except the cabanas, of course). They do have plenty of them, and they are available for everyone throughout the day. Also there are hammocks, but not enough of them to go around. Hope for one but don't plan on it.

Since you can't rent the chairs (they're free and first come first served) so no such thing as reserving them early.

You're unlikely to get a cabana, but you never know. If you are adults only there might be one available on the adult beach, but if you have kids the family ones are pretty hard to get, just about impossible for first timers.

Some other advice…snorkeling is great; plenty of food with lots of choices; there will be characters around during the day; some unique souvenirs in the stores on the island; if you are up to a nice walk you don't really have to take the tram anywhere (though lots of people do); they have (free) towels for you just after you get off the ship; there are bars if you want to purchase alcoholic beverages, but soft drinks available free at the lunch buffet; check out the crab races!

The farther south you cruise, the warmer it gets. We were freezing in Orlando one December, but by the time we got to CC it was warm. We didn't go swimming, but a lot of people did. Part of it depends on what you're used to. If you come from snow country, CC will seem quite balmy.

If you booked the snorkeling excursion and it is too cold to get in, can you get a refund?

If you booked the snorkeling excursion and it is too cold to get in, can you get a refund?
Unless DCL cancels the excursion, no. If there's a waiting list, and they can "resell" your spot, there's a chance. But, cancelling on the day of the event, it's likely they won't be able to reach anyone on the wait list.

If you booked the snorkeling excursion and it is too cold to get in, can you get a refund?

If you cancel within 72 hours ( three days) you will be charged, full stop, charged.

Only if they can't deliver it, will there be a refund, IE seas rough, wind to strong, didn't call at port. " Too cold" is not their issue.

If by way of example you book a flight, and then do not want to go as its too cold there, you do not get a refund, but if the weather stops the plane flying you get a refund, same principle with DCL.
