CC and bug bites?????

My girlfriend just returned from CC. She said after waking from a nap under the palm trees, she was covered with bugs/bug bites!! She was freaking out, and was "told" by a cast member that you shouldnt nap under the palm trees. Ive never read about this here, is this true??? Going in 3 months!! Thanks

Sand flea's can be a problem and are most likely the cause.
They used to spray the sand to keep them away (within reason to keep up the eco policy thing).
Showering in hot water get's rid of them if you are affected and the welt's should go after a day or two if not scratched.

Does using an insect repellant like Off keep them away?

Bug spray. We always bring it along on cruises--travel dr. recommended using serious bug repellant (with DEET) in all southern areas, including Florida.
