that aside, which would you say has/is geared more toward adults? Also important: onsite restaurants and pool areas? TIA.

I have not stayed at either... but, I have visited the WL many many times to dine at Artist Point, and to just look around.
Therre are 2 sit down restaurants at the WL, Whispering canyon which is a lot of smoked foods, very casual and fun too (very much geared towards families...ie.. children)
Artist Point serves dinner only and is "fine dining" a fantastic restaurant for a couple!
(one of my favs!)
then they have the counter service, and a pool bar also.
the pool is beautiuful, and the geyser right behind it is magnificcent.
a cozy and rustic atmosphere, ver romantic, yet a lot of families and children also.

CBR is romantic too from what I have researched, yet you will have a lot of children there as well (this is WDW after all! :))
the beach is romantic with hammocks too!
and there is one sit down restaurant that is brand new, and I hear is very good! plus the counter service.
there are many quiet pools, and then the main themed pool.

i think both resorts are good for a couple. choose based on the theme you like better, they are 2 worlds apart based on theme!

rustic/cozy, or tropical paradise.....

have fun!!

Laura :)

I've stayed at CBR many times, but I've visited WL many times also (never stayed there, though).

Here's my opinion: As far as adult theming goes, well, that's a tough one, but my vote goes to CBR. CBR provides each village with a quiet pool. The quiet pools have no slides, which means that more adults gravitate to these pools, and the kids head over to the main pool at OPR. The main pool is clearly designed with kids in mind. Hubby and I spent our honeymoon at CBR and thought it was extremely romantic....nothing beats a stroll on the white sandy beaches at dusk. The hammocks are to die for :p , especially when there's a cool breeze and a yummy drink in your hand. You can sit by OPR each night and view the fireworks from Epcot, too.

WL is a gorgeous resort. We make it a point to visit this resort during each of our Disney trips. From what I've seen, they only have one large pool, so it's always filled with both kids and adults. In all the times I've visited this resort, I have never really seen the pool "mobbed". They have a cool geyser situated right behind the pool, but as far as romance goes, I can't really say that this resort ranks way up there. Maybe there are other DIS'ers who can fill us both in on the atmosphere at the WL.

Good luck with your choice!

Have stayed at both... prefer CBR!

CBR is romantic, tropical, has wonderful hammocks on the beaches and a terrific pool bar.

WL is romantic, dark and woodsy, has a very picturesque pool, hottubs that are fantastic at night and the guyser.

I think it really depends if you prefer your romance with a Tropical flavor or a mountain lodge flavor.

Thanks to all, We just booked WL because we 'live' in tropical St Petersburg , 200 yards from the Gulf of Mexico. WL theme more exotic.
