CBR vs. AllStars????

I'm getting really conflicted here. We are booked at CBR for 3rd week in Aug. But, am thinking about switching to an AllStars. My dd really wants a slide at the pool, which the value resorts don't have. Can you guys please give me the pro's and con's of each? Dd is 9, we will be spending most of the time at parks, coming back to the resort mid-day for swim/food/relaxation. This really shouldn't be so stressful! TIA.

We stayed at PO the first year we went and the next at ASMu. I loved PO but love the savings at ASMu even more. We will always go value for the savings because you don't miss out on anything. The bus service was wonderful. The theme of the hotel was great and the pool was fantastic. No slides though. If that is really important then you should stay at a moderate. But if you are worried about the quality of the value hotel it is a non issue.

I hope you have a great time where ever you decide to sleep.

I've never stayed at an All Stars Resort but I did stay at CBR a few years ago. I guess I'll be telling you what everyone else will be, it depends on the theming you are looking for and the money you want to spend. From what I remember, they main pool at CBR wasn't anything that exciting (of course I'm not a 9 year old) and the invidual pools didn't have much theming at all. Kids might like the theming at the All Stars a bit more. CBR was nice and we plan on spending a few nights there on our next trip, but I think kids might enjoy an All Stars Resort a bit more plus it'll save you a few bucks. ;) Good luck!

The slide at the main pool at CBR isn't really a long one. I am sure it is fun and the main pool has some fun theming but if budget is a consideration the All Stars will make up in fun over the slide. At least one pool at each of the All Stars has a Disney Charcter statue(s) that squirt water.

We just got back from 9 nights at CBR, and about 5 years ago stayed 20 nights at ASSports. We loved CBR, beautiful hotel, great theming but due to the amount of time we spent there, we would not stay there again, it really was a waste to us. Have a DD5, and a DD 8, and felt they would have enjoyed the theming at *** more than at CBR. The slide in the pool is quite small, and unless you are quite close to it, you will be using your resort pool anyway which has no slide. If you do stay at CBR be sure to ask for something close to Old Port Royale.

We loved CBR in June 2002. The slide at the main pool is very small. My DD5 loved it but I bet your DD9 is too old to have fun on such a small slide. I am different than most (just ask my wife) but WDW is our only trip of the year. The price difference between the All Stars and the Moderates really isn't that much in the scheme of things. I'd much rather upgrade the resort stay for $300, heck it's not like I go on ten vacations and then it would add up to $3000! It's Disney! Splurge. Everyone says, however that the slide at the top of the pyramid at the Coronado Springs Resort is really great. I am thinking your DD would like that better if you are upgrading to a Moderate. Or stick with the All Stars, get Hopper Plus tickets and tell her she can ride slides at Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach for a whole day!

The serpent slide at POFQ is cool, my kids loved it on our first trip. They also enjoyed the slide at PORS and Contemporary. Why don't you do a water park one day if you want to stay at All Stars, then she can slide to her hearts content? I guess it depends on how much time you are planning on spending at the pool, since it is Aug. probably quite a bit.
