CBR - Preferred or Standard?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could chip in on my dilemma.

I booked 14 nights at CBR for August 2016 and the price for Preferred, Standard and Standard king were all identical at £2,184. Naturally I took advantage of this knowing CBR is quite a big resort and having a preferred room would minimise trekking around a bit so booked this. However I did the dreaded thing of going back to search for the trip again after booking and now the standard rooms are showing up at £1,960.

I have a lot to pay for this year and trying to work out if the convenience is worth the extra £224 over the two weeks in the blistering heat of August...

Is it possible to call Disney and discuss altering the booking? I booked directly through Disney travel.

We have stayed at both Trinidad South (pirate room) and Barbados 15. Trinidad south was a really long walk. Barbados was in a standard room and it didn't seem like a far walk at all and that was with 3 kids 6 and under! This year we a going with a standard room again. If you request Martinique 21, 22 or 23 they are fairly close.

I never pay extra for preferred at other resorts but 14 nights at CBR .... hot steamy August ... I would absolutely keep the preferred.

Looking at some of the islands, they are a bit of a trek. I'm not one for paying extra for things like that, it just worked out the same price so we went for that. The other half really likes the idea of keeping it (not used to that heat at all) but the way things are going at the moment I'll be footing most of the bill! I'm thinking of keeping it and saving money elsewhere to pay for it.

I would stay with preferred. I loved being close to the pool and food court, especially at night after a long day. Quick 2 minute walk to the pool bar was nice!

Thanks everyone. I spoke to Disney and the charge to change the booking would be £50 so I'm going to stick with the preferred room. It's still going to cost me less than rooms at any of the other moderates and CBR was the one I fancied anyway. Really looking forward to going!
