:flower3: Need some help from anyone willing to put in their 2 cents....We are DVC members who cannot get a reservation for 3 days in the middle of our stay. We are okay with getting a cash reservation elsewhere, but we don't want to spend too much as we already have spent a lot to be DVC members. Because of my procrastination, we are unable to get what we need for our stay. Before becoming DVC members, we were tried and true POR fans. We have even stayed there as DVC members because we like it. Since our next trip is over the Christmas holiday, the only moderates are CBR or CSR. Have not stayed at either...want some opinions. We will have two rooms with four adults and 2 sixteen year old girls. I'm not really particular except for transportation and the comfort of the beds...they're the biggies for me.....If you have a preference, what buildings? Thanks for your help.

We have only stayed at CSR. The only other we have considered is POFQ. However, we are so happy at CSR, that we just haven't tried another (we will be at the CSR for the 7th time in September). It is a large resort, but with the girls and their age, I don't see that as being a problem. They will love the pool with the great slide; the hot tub, perhaps the spa/fitness center (massages available); the food court and even the quiet pools. There are hammocks scattered around the resort; a volleyball court; boat rentals, etc. Just so you know when making your decision, the CSR will be undergoing a rehab beginning in January. They will start at one end of the resort and work around for about a year. Our favorite area is the Casitas...we always stay in Casitas 4 or 5--close to the quiet pool and the spa. From those buildings it is a five minute walk to the main building and about a seven minute walk to the main pool.

I am sure whatever resort you decide on you will be happy.

We loved CSR! The transportation was the best I've used I think. We ended up in the back in Ranchos 6b, but it was great!

I have not stayed at CBR... maybe that will be next when the pool is done!

CSR! Great pool, transportation and food options. CSR has elevators in each building as well.

Being a convention resort, the pool and buses seem less crowded because convention guests are busy with their work.

Mousesavers Review
Review from mousesavers.com!!

Coronado Springs is my Best Value choice in the Moderate category. It has several advantages compared with the other Moderate resorts. It is newer, so there has been less wear-and-tear on everything. Also, Coronado Springs is a convention hotel, so it has a few extra amenities not offered at the other Moderates, including a salon, a health club and a more upscale food court.

The theming is radically different in the three areas of Coronado Springs. You can request a specific area when booking but there is no guarantee you'll get your request.

  • The Spanish-style Casitas at Coronado Springs are very peaceful, with courtyards featuring tiled fountains. Casitas Buildings 1, 3 and 2 (in that order) are the closest to the restaurants and services. Casitas Building 4 contains the salon and health club, if those are important to you.
  • The Cabanas at Coronado Springs have a beachy Caribbean feeling. Cabanas Building 8A is very close to the feature pool, which may be a blessing (convenience) or a curse (noise, light). Cabanas Building 9B is closest to the marina and relatively convenient to the restaurants and services.
  • The Ranchos at Coronado Springs feel quiet and secluded -- some would say isolated -- and feature desert landscaping and pueblo-style architecture. They look closest to the main pool on a map, but in actuality they are separated from the rest of the property by a swamp, so it can be a fairly long walk from these buildings to the pool, and a very long walk to the restaurants.

Both are nice. Check out the photos of each resort and see which theming you like best.

If we stay in a mod again, we'll most likely go to CBR. It's much more relaxing.

I don't remember the comfort level of the beds at either resort. Nothing beats our select comfort at home lol.

Transportation for us was better at CBR. We usually get a rental car. We had the worst bus service ever when we stayed at CSR. Trying to get back to the resort mid-day was not fun. I don't think we've been on a Disney bus since that time.

CSR is a great resort. The pool is fantastic and the transportation is the best we've experienced at WDW. You love it! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

As you can tell from my signature - I am a CBR fan. In fact it is my favorite of all the resorts! My daughters are now 22 and 29 but the CBR is by far their favorite of all the moderates!!! I love the Martinique and North Trinidad buildings - they are close to the food court. There is a bus stop at every village so the walk to a bus stop is not bad at all. You will want to avoid South Trinidad - it is far away from food court and a long way for 2 sixteen year old girls to walk when they just want to "hang out". Jamaica and Aruba are just across the bridge from everything and it is a pleasant walk to the food court. We will be at CBR in November (the new main pool area will be complete by then). Have a great trip!!!

Another vote here for CBR. I stayed once at CSR and would never return.

Have a great trip!

I would say try CBR even though I haven't stayed there
but have stayed at CSR and POR.
We love POR and POFQ.
There is no comparing CSR and POR.
CSR doesn't have that Disney Feel as much as POR
does and I guess it was because most people you
see walking around are in Dress clothes with brief cases
going to a Convention.
The convention people line the hallways
going to the Pepper Market, that just put a damper on
the Disney Magic.
I am hoping to try CBR next year. the pictures are beautiful.

In the six times we have stayed at the CSR, we have never had any problems with the convention people. They have never interfered with our lunch at Pepper Market (there has never been a long line); we see them in the morning as we are getting our coffee to head to the parks while they are heading to their meetings in business suits/business casual. In fact, we find it leaves the pools emptier for the vacationers.

Truthfully, the only Disney resorts to me that have a "Disney feel" are the values; none of the moderates or deluxes feel very "Disney" to me. But I am staying at the resort for comfort and relaxation after spending the day at the Disney parks with thousands and thousands of other people. By the way, the CSR is NOT the only convention resort at Disney.

The good thing is Disney offers several options to choose from as people have many, many different tastes. We are very happy at the CSR and would not even consider another resort--moderate or deluxe (except for AKL--and that is only because of my love of giraffes so I could wake up in the morning and sit on the patio and watch the animals while drinking my coffee).

I am sure you will be happy wherever you choose...you will be at Disney after all.

And the holiday decorations are lovely at CSR! Your 2 16 yr old DD's will love the resort.

Here are some CSR x-mas pics!!

Yesterday I booked a 7 day stay at Caribbean (May1-7,2009), because of their renovated pool, but I just found out that Coronado will be refurbished this year, so now I don't know what to do!:confused3

My dsis was planning on staying at CSR next spring (2009), does anyone know what will the renovations consist of? will everything be completed by then?

If I were you, I would go with CSR. Simply less large, and I think the better transportation system is there.

They are starting a renovation of all the rooms beginning in October of this year. It will take one year to complete. They will start on one end of the resort and work their way around until they have completed each section. Only one section at a time is to be worked on.

We stayed at CBR in October '06 and CSR last December. CBR is hands down way better. There was nothing REALLY wrong with CSR, but it felt like they were leaning towards being a convention resort rather than a "Disney" resort. I think the grounds at CBR are absolutely beautiful, while CSR was just alright. I know I won't be staying at CSR again, not because anything was wrong with it, but it just didn't feel Disney at all to me. Was not my cup of tea, so to speak.

I would say quite the opposite. POR felt like a retirement community- everyone there was quite elderly when we went and the theming was terribly boring. We love CSR as there are fun, bright colors and an amazing pool. We switched from POR to CSR the first night and very much enjoyed the rest of our trip. We didn't think the woodsy theme was anything special.
We never notice the convention people- they're always at their conventions when we're around :confused3

We LOVE POR my DD 20 DD23 would say that it's their fav-- quiet not elderly i think...beautiful
