Hi, Plan on staying for 2 weeks since coming from UK. It's my first time at disney world, probably will do universal also and some exploring outside the disney bubble. I have the option for a standard at CBR or CSR although at CSR the option presented to me is a room with a single king bed. CSR is more expensive and will be on the free QSDP, however for the same price more or less i can get a room at CBR and upgrade to the DDP.

Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated

there are several boards just for the UK.

here is a link

both are BIG resorts - I like CSR a little better - it is a convention hotel and has more stuff because it is a convention hotel - you can walk to Blizzard beach - plus further down from BB is a Macdonalds you can walk too.

that is my taste and you might love CBR - it is a beautiful resort and you can see the fireworks from Epcot there.

CBR fan here, and you can also watch the HS fireworks as well.
But... CSR has a few more amenities, there's a gym (if that interests you) and a spa (a real one, Disney also calls their hot tubs "spas").
CBR has hammocks on the beach under trees that you can spend and afternoon on with a good book.
As an adult (going with DH though), I love CBR. I like the lazy feel.of the resort, I LOVE Shutters (onsite TS restaurant) and the walk around the lake.
Last but not least, we love being on the DDP (deluxe). We can eat relaxing dinners at signature restaurants, get out of the noontime heat in air conditioned comfort, and have more flexibility.
So, you need to decide what's important to you, and choose accordingly.
Have a magical holiday!

For hotels I would choose CSR hands down but you have to factor in what you want dining wise.

CSR is smaller with three distinct themes (I love when resorts have more than one theme)-
- Ranchos is highly creative, close to the main pool yet not far from the main hub.
- Cabanas has the beach feel complete with hammocks and beaches and not far from main hub or main pool.
- Casitas is the city feel, high rise buildings and home of the fitness center, spa and salon (CBR does not offer these).
Resort itself is stunning day or night, lush and we love walking around.

CSR has more dining options than any of the other moderates including quick service & mug refill right at the main pool - including several bars and more than one TS.

CSR has beach volleyball, largest hot tub, adult enjoyable pool slide, stunning pyramid at the pool and plenty of lounges & tables - with lounges in the shade (big plus for me). While there are families there it also has an adult feel.

CSR is centrally located; around corner from AK, a skip to Epcot & DHS and right at exit to main road to MK. No bus ride is long and transportation very good. Being close to DHS, fireworks are visible and I believe the new launch pad is now even closer to CSR.

Again - you have to decide on your dining situation. For me, I would likely still stay at CSR and just pay the extra to upgrade to DDP. For me the options there at the hotel (given the length of the trip) would be a plus to DDP. Also note that there are lots of new eats at Disney Springs where your DDP would be most enjoyable. When we stayed at CBR we did not enjoy the dining and we planned all meals at parks or other resorts. But if you were to stay at CBR, you would have that extra cash. I would study the photos and resort threads of both resorts and see what clicks for you.

I prefer the CSR, but can rarely get a room with a discount and my second choice is CBR.
HopperFan covers it pretty well. One big advantage of CSR is it has it's own buses so you are not stopping at other hotels on the way back and fourth.

BTW - it is almost always cheaper to get the room discount if available and purchase the DDP or QSDP - the free DDP really does not come out cheaper until you have at least two people IMO...so make sure you check that. I don't find the DDP/QSDP worthwhile..I'd prefer to just pay out of pocket and get what I want instead of trying to make the plan worthwhile getting deserts I really don't want..etc...but it may work for you..remember you can always add that later
