Staying 9/30-10-9
Me and my 3 kids (13, 12, and 4).
We're mainly interested in the parks, not even sure how much I care about the pools.
We have a res at CBR with free dining in a Pirate Room. I've heard those are in the furthest section. Not sure how much time that adds to getting from door to park.
I've also heard Pirate Rooms have same size beds as value resorts.
For $100 less we can get a similar reservation (including dining and PH) at ASSp.... and I can't decide... at all! Please help!!
I do want it to be pretty, just not sure about how much pretty matters to three kids. Also not sure what construction means as far as noise, but I feel like that's a non-issue?
Also, for an extra $100... I can stay at Pop... but I feel silly paying extra to stay at a value resort over a moderate.
Again, please help and thank you in advance!!

As long as construction is a non-issue and the price difference being only $100, I would choose CBR over Sports or Pop. The rooms are bigger and the pool is better. Plus there is a really nice splash area that your youngest child may enjoy. As for location of the pirate rooms, they are the farthest from the food court, which since it will be closed, seems to be irrelevant. There are bus stops all around the resort, so walking to/from transportation shouldn't be a factor.

Is this your family's first trip? If so, I might consider the AS resort for a few reasons.

While you may not be planning to spend a ton of time at the resort, the atmosphere will set the mood for your trip. Massive construction may not give your time at Disney the relaxing vibe you're looking for.

With the constriction comes closure of many of the restaurants at CBR. That can be a pain.

If daily breaks are on your agenda and include naps, the construction noise could cause problems with that.

On the other hand, if you wanted to spend plenty of time at the pool, CBR's pool is much nicer than AS.

We have had perfect vacations at All star sports but CBR is nicer and worth a bit more.

The pirate rooms in Trinidad south are furthest from the main pool and food court but has its own bus stop and quiet pool. It will add no extra time from door to park.

Maybe check into the CBR thread for updates on construction. It might be an issue.

I would stick with CBR. We've never stayed at any of the values, but we loved CBR. The values have no appeal to us, so we would stay at a mod with construction before we'd move to a value (but that's just us).

I'd def. switch to ASSports. We stayed at CBR last year and honestly, I don't think we'd go back. Everything was just too spread out for us and we didn't like the set up of the pool area and it was always jammed pack. The biggest reason though that I say def. switch is because from what I have seen, it looks like they won't have a full or real food court area and I can't imagine staying at a Disney resort without one. We're not at the resort often, but we do find ourselves getting a few meals there every trip and to not have that as an option (just cold options is not too appealing for us) would be really frustrating. The other issue with CBR is the bussing- many stops, and if you're taking the ME, even more inconvenient and yes Pirates room are furthest away with just double beds. I'd save the money and go to Sports. -You would not have pool slide there though.

We've stayed at multiple Values, Mod's, and Deluxes just for a frame of reference.

Honestly, if there wasn't construction going on and it was only $100 more, then I'd def. be more inclined to say you might as well try it out (although the Pirate rooms make it harder for me to justify unless you have a kiddo who's really into that). I don't think we'd stay there again, but obviously everyone's different, but without being able to have a real food court, I wouldn't recommend it.
