Please help me decide between Jamaica or Martinique. DH, DD4, and I will be there in May. I like the location of Martinique (close to food, etc.) but really want the quietness and relaxed feel of Jamaica (possibly Bld. 45) Also think my DD4 would love the walk across the bridge to get to OPR...is it too far?

Am willing to pay for preferred building. Which would you request?

We stayed in Jamaica with our then 4 and 6 year old and were very happy there. The relatively short walk across the bridge, through the little wooded area, and then along the path next to the water is great for the kids. There are fish and other wildlife to see. I found a lot of comments on these boards at that time recommending Jamaica. (I can't compare with Martinique as I don't know exactly where it is). :sunny:

We stayed in Jamaica both times and loved it. Yes, the walk is a little farther but Jamaica's bus stop is generally the first stop. So, your'e picked up first and dropped off first after a day at the parks. Which is nice during crowded periods.

martinique is definitely my favorite, although jamaica and aruba have great beaches. either would be great just stay away from trinidad south and barbados.

I vote for Martinique but I don't think you can go wrong with either choice. Martinique is great for watching Illuminations from Epcot.

I have stayed in the buildings you mentioned and I perfer Martinique due to it's closeness to the Food Court, Pool Bar, and Main Pool. I never had a problem staying in Martinique and never had a noisy experience there. I thought the walk from Jamaica was nice and peaceful but after a few days that experience got very old of having to walk for even the slightest of snacks, drinks, or condiments that were needed or forgotten.

We stayed in Jamaica on our first trip to WDW and absolutely loved it! It was nice and quiet - we enjoyed the quiet pool with our kids with noone else there,a short walk to the buses and I thought the walk to the mainpool and food court was nice. I'm sorry I can't compare to Martinique though because we have never stayed there.

Jamaica gets my vote! Loved the short walk to the Food Court and the quiet pool! Also, another plus is the 1st one on/off the bus! It would be perfect for your family!!! Have FUN :cheer2:

Jamaica all the way for the reasons other posters have already mentioned! We loved Jamaica when we stayed there, and really lucked into our location.

We had a water view in Martinique last year and enjoyed watching Illuminations from the small beach area right in front of our room. Noise was never an issue (if you don't count the little pizza delivery truck whizzing by - but that happens throughout the whole resort). I liked being close to the food court. When we returned from the parks at night it was a quick hop to fill our mugs for the evening and a quick skip for breakfast in the AM. Plus my kids enjoyed the main pool at OPR better than any of the other pools.
