Every now and then, I find one of my cats (like right now) sleeping right in the middle of a room. Not leaning on anything, not curled up on top of anything. Just plain old on the floor. Like a boat lost at sea - it's just kitty drifting along in the middle of the vast carpet.

Your cats do this? ;)

My cat will sleep anywhere, anytime. Right now she is sleeping smack dab in the middle of the kitchen.

Doesn't it look weird? :earboy2:

My big fat male cat loves the keyboard too. Yet, right now, he's the one laying smack dab in the middle of the floor. Curled up like a ball. :)

My mom had a big fat black cat, Lucky, who used to fall asleep in the middle of the family room floor... on his back with his legs sticking up in the air! It was so funny- we used to just look at him and giggle. He also used to LOVE to lie on top of my mom's stinky old tennies- he'd lie there and purr, with this little kitty-smile on his face. Stinky shoes... what was the appeal?

Lucky died last winter, at the ripe old age of 17. He was a lovable old character til the end.

My cat's favorite spot to sleep is smack dab in the middle of the living room, splayed out flat on his back.

He does look a bit ridiculous. :teeth:

Yep, and I joke that they do it because they like being "speed bumps" and trip me up. They get more attention that way ;)

Mine sleep in odd little places in general though. I figure that cats feel the whole world is their pillow!

One of my cats will do this at times also. He is also named Lucky! He stretches out on his side and lays under the ceiling fan in the living room. If he is up on a chair or couch he lays upside down alot of time. It's funny, because our other cat always as to be up on something i.e. couch, chair and lays in what I call the perch position. I often wonder if he's more secure than the other one!

One of mine will sleep sprawled across the top of the stairs so whenever you have to go up you have to step over her...she certainly isn't going to move a all!

Mine do, I always wonder if he was walking somewhere and was so tired he just had to stop and take a nap right there. One of my cats sits on top of my moniter with her tell right in front of the screen. :cat:

I wonder if they look for warm (or cool like under a fan) spots? Mine like to follow the sun across the floor.

All 3 of ours like to sleep in the middle of the floor on their back with their legs up in the air. Two of them are pretty fat and they look like dead bloated animals along the side of the road. One of them when she sleeps hard will cover her eyes with her paw. The used to like to sleep in the bathroom sink until they got to fat.

My big fat 18.5 lb male cat Rumpus will do that too! Just plop himself down wherever and nod off!

I've found them in so many weird spots, nothing shocks me anymore! My favorite was my old Siamese who used to love to climb up the trellis and sleep in the rain gutter on her back. All you saw were 4 legs and paws sticking up in the air! :cat:

One of our cats falls asleep almost anywhere in the house and it's dangerous walking around the house in the dark at night!

She also likes to sleep at the top of the stairs with her paws hanging off the top step. Even now that I am on crutches with a cast on my right foot she doesn't care and won't move! How trusting!

When she's in an especially loving mood she rolls on her back and bares her huge Maine Coon Cat belly for rubbing. It doesn't seem to bother her that you might have a laundry basket in your hands or two crutches! What a trusting soul!

The other cat is less likely to lay in the hallways but will cuddle up next to you for long, full belly rubs with your whole arm and then start snoring!

Oh and they both love to lay on all open newspapers you are reading!

Lily especially likes to sleep upside down on her back, in the middle of the floor, on a hot day when I have the ceiling fan on.

Know what...my cat Disney HAD to have read this thread! Where was he this evening when I came home from work....plopped down right smack in the middle of the kitchen floor! My DH calls him a speedbump! :goodvibes :cat:

Anyone else have a cat who sleeps in the middle of the YARD? One of ours goes outside (the other's purely indoor) and he just plops down right in the middle of the back yard in the grass-not near a tree, bush, or anything-and falls asleep.
