Travelling
.
Whos Who
Me Cath, 32
DH Tony, 34
DS1 Anthony 4 years, 10 months
DS2 Christopher, 3 years 11 months
We shared a villa with the McCusker Family - Ann Marie, my cousin, Her DH Michael, and their kids John, Michael and Gerard, ages 11, 9 and 6
We arrive at the airport before any BMI desks are open there are very few people here!! I didnt realise airports closed!!!
We get checked in, and get the boarding passes for all three flights which is good.
Flight leaves on time kids are very excited now, DS2 Christopher asked if we were in Florida when we touch down at Heathrow IF ONLY!!!!!!
Make a mental note Do not expect small children to carry their own hand luggage even wee tiny rucksacks with very little in them. So, next time well have one bag each for mum and dad and the kids can put in what they want.
We make our connection with no problems, and at last we are off to the US of A!!!
United Airlines were very good service was great, food edible, ice cream, plenty of water throughout the flight, AND all drinks are still free . mmmm. Another mental note Cath, no drinking of red wine on any flights. I had one wee bottle, and I felt like I had 10!!! Tony said I smelled like a brewery! Attractive!
Chicago airport was an experience. It was huge taking the train to the different terminals. And, on our train someone got jammed in the door because they couldnt wait!!! We were delayed in Chicago because of bad weather but we were stuck on the plane for 2 hours and the plane was shutdown, so we had no A/C. It got really hot at least 100 degrees I think. The kids were tired and getting restless, and a bit overheated. DS1 I think was a bit dehydrated. He was crying for ages then I cried
It was all becoming a bit stressful!!!!
Eventually we were off, and at 9.30pm ET, 2 hours later than planned we were in Orlando!!! I felt so relieved. We got our luggage and we picked up our Dollar car with no trouble a brand new Dodge Stratus. Nice spec with digital temp display!!
The drive to the villa took about 35 minutes. Directions from villa owner were good, so no problems there.
Not sure of the time, after 11pm I think we got to the villa kids were carried into bed. Decided we really needed milk and things for the morning only one solution. Someone would need to go to Wal*Mart. I volunteered naturally. Cousin and her DH stayed, while Tony and I went off for a quick visit.
We actually werent that long but the queues were.
We got back, and went straight to bed ready for our adventures tomorrow!!!
