Our first venture to Universal Orlando this trip. Meeting Night-train – John, and the gang at 8.30am in the Rotunda. We had a PS for Hard Rock Café at 6pm, planning a light lunch, so a hearty breakfast was in order. Anthony wants to go to Denny’s to get the smiley face pancakes!! We head towards International Drive, and it’s not long before we find one. Near the Orange County Convention Centre. Anthony has the Smiley face pancakes, Christopher has a junior Grand Slam – which is not so junior in size…….Tony and I both had the country scramble. Food was nice and fresh – and went down a treat will all.

Onto IOA. Decide to pay for preferred parking, and we head to the meeting point. Text from John to say they’ve been a bit held up. We didn’t have to wait tooo long for them!...... ;) Once in the park we decide to go in an anti-clockwise direction as most of the crowd seem to be going the opposite way, so we head into Seuss Landing. Cat in the Hat calls first, no wait. Great spinning here – I can feel my country scramble churning around!!! One fish two fish next, we got drenched as I couldn’t coordinate the ‘one fish red fish up up up’ bit. Caroseussel was next, then a chance to meet some characters.

The crowds were certainly quite sparce, and we were enjoying virtually walk on for most things. Into The Lost Continent and Poseidon’s Fury. We had never done this before, but John thoroughly recommended it. It was VERY good. Kids were a bit unsure at first with all the fire and noise. But afterwards they said they did like it. For some reason the big boys bypassed Duelling Dragons, think they were saving themselves for The Hulk. The Flying Unicorn was the next stop. Christopher did not want to ride so he waited with Tony, while I rode with Anthony and John rode with Caitline. I remember being on this on past trips and being terrified. It is quite fast. Nothing different this time – I screamed from the minute it pulled away, till the minute it stopped. Anthony loved it – he IS turning into a coaster freak!!

Into Jurassic Park. John took some more photos………… ;) Decided to allow the kids to ride Jurassic Park River Adventure. Not on my better judgment I add, as I was terrified of the drop myself. Anyway, there was hardky any wait – Caitline didn’t want to ride, so Laura waited with her, and the rest of us went on. I think the kids got the shock of their life……and soaked! Tony, who was in charge of hats, also managed to drop my new hat into the water. $2 that cost me in Target!!! Kids have a run around in Camp Jurassic next. Not so easy keeping an eye on 3 kids here – even with 4 adults!!! One kept disappearing off somewhere!!! Once they were tired out it was back into the strollers and onto Toon Lagoon. John continued to be snap-happy, and we decided on Popeye and Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges next. Having done this before we knew the drill of shoes and socks in the bit in the middle. OMG – every single one of us was drenched to the skin. Not a dry piece of clothing was there on any of us. Caitline was not happy. She didn’t like getting wet much – my two were loving it!!!!! It seemed to take ages for us to dry off – we squelched our way into Marvel Super Hero Island.

Everyone was feeling a wee bit puckish. So we try Captain Americas Diner. We didn’t want much as we were having dinner at Hard Rock later on. We share Cheeseburger meal and chicken strip meal. Nice. Just enough to keep us going till later. So here we were, ready for Spider-Man. Decide to get Express passes, only to find the express passes are all gone for the day, so we need to WAIT!!!!! Posted as 45 minutes. In reality I think we waited around 25 minutes. I LOVE this ride. It was fantastic!!! The Hulk was the next stop. There was no way I was going to be coaxed to go on Hulk. I did it once, and hated every minute of it. So John and Tony went on. They had to wait, as the express passes were for too late in the day. I took all the kids on Storm Force. Yuk! This was way worse than the teacups. Laura and I waited in the sunshine for Tony and John to come off Hulk. Anthony fell asleep in his stroller. I can’t remember how long they waited to be honest – 45 minutes maybe. When we were all together again we went back into Seuss Landing. Kids played in the If I Ran The Zoo playground for a bit. I could feel the sun really strong here. But it was 4 o’clock in the afternoon!! We decided to make our way to the exit – stopping in the shops along the way. Then once we had exited the park we had a nosey around some of City Walk. I had an Electric Lemonade cocktail from a cart!! It was yummy. Very refreshing!! Our OS was for 6, but it was only 5pm, but we decided to try our luck anyway – we had a 10 minute wait for our table and we were in. Everyone was exhausted!!!! We ordered our food – I had Fajitas, Tony had a salad I think, John had Fajitas too and Laura had either a burger or a sandwich. The food was really yummy – so was my Bahama Mama cocktail!!!!! (Yes there is an ongoing trend here……….!)Desserts followed, and everyone was happy.
Everyone agreed we had a thoroughly enjoyable day, looking forward to our next one together at Magic Kingdom. We walked back to the car park together and said our goodbyes!!! Time for home. We went straight home tonight – kids to bed, more wine, beer and Benny!!!!! :) :teeth:

Bringing back good memories... we too got soaked through on those Barges! Off to read more, great report.

Great report ~ Sounds a fun day for all.

Thanks Cath, I enjoyed your report again. I love IoA, especially the Spiderman ride. No mention of Dr Doom, didn't you fancy it? :teeth: I am supposed to be going on it this year because the rest of the family think it looks class, hoping one of them will change their mind so I will have an excuse not to go on it. :)

Great reports so far, I am thoroughly enjoying them

I have never been to IOA but the characters seem to be a poor imitation compared to WDW.
