Hello. I'm new to this site, which I discovered when my family and I were trying to decide whether or not to cancel our 9/27 Wonder cruise (we did and opted for an impromptu Disneyland trip instead). I've really enjoyed the great tips and insights from you all. Hopefully some of you can help me out.

We are planning to sail on the Oct. 14 2006 special cruise going to Costa Maya (and with 2 stops at CC). I'm considering a Cat. 9 room. Are there any we should avoid? Any we should try to reserve? There are four of us--me, my dh, ds (will be 6 in 2006) and dd (will be 4).

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This will be my second Disney cruise (we did a land/sea package for our honeymoon).

Thanks!

Welcome to the DIS!

We've stayed in a category 9 before and really liked it. The 9s on deck 2 have a very large porthole - 3 or 4 feet in diameter. I'm sure someone else will verify size. On deck 1 there are a few with 2 small portholes. I"ve never stayed in one of those though.

There have been some reported "noisy" rooms. You can find that list here at DCLTribute.com. There is also a wealth of other information--definitely worth taking a look at.

Good luck!

Mary

Definitely pick Deck 2. We've stayed in several cabins, preferred aft by the elevators the best-2608 was great.

We've done cat 9 twice - even got the same room. We love the convenience of the location - and even get a little more exercise walking up to the pool!! We're going back for our third cruise 5/06 and although our "home" room was taken - we got 2 doors down!

I have stayed in a Cat 9 for all my 4 day cruises... either on deck 2 or deck 1... be careful though, there are a few "noisey" staterooms on deck 2, right under the dance clubs. It wasn't horrible, but we could hear the bass fromt he music. I don't have kids, and it was just me and my friends, 20ish, so didn't bother us.. but if you have kids, I would check out Dave's DCL tribute site for the stateroom numbers. Our room number was 2542, but they are mostly the forward staterooms.

We just got off the 10/16 Magic and stayed in a Cat 9 (2548), but it slept only 3. We loved the large porthole and we were mid ship, close to stairs and elevators.

Have fun!

Jeanne

Thank you everyone for the Cat 9 info. I knew I came to the right place!

Thanks for making me feel so welcome. I'm looking forward to "talking" with you all over the next two years while I obsess over my future cruise!

We're booking through Dreams Unlimited. WOW! Their rate is about $600 less than DCL with the rebate they offer. Can anyone tell me if I can request a certain stateroom with DU or will they just assign us?

You can request a certain stateroom. when I booked with them the last time I believe I had to put down the deposit before they could confirm the room choice. But you could give them several options of which rooms you wanted and if you didn't like which one you were assigned they would work with you to find one you did like.

I am going to be on the Oct 14, 2006 cruise as well. i've never stayed in category nine but it was my choice and I will be in room 2566.

If you come over to the cruise meets board, there are already about 100 DIS members going on this very cruise, I think it's going to be a lot of fun!

Thank you all so much for the info. We're going to be in room 2610. It seems like a good location and it's not on Dave's noisy room list.

I can't believe how excited I am about something that is two years away. :Pinkbounc JC Butterfly, I did notice that there are going to be lots of DIS members on that cruise. I guess we picked a good one, huh? I would love to meet you and some other Disney Cruise fanantics during the cruise. :wave2: So, what exactly is Cruisetoberfest, anway? Sounds like fun.

Any suggestions for how not to go insane waiting TWO YEARS!? I don't know if I'm going to make it. I'm so jealous of everyone going this year!
