We are going on the Eastern cruise on 2/5, and are booked mid-ship in a cat 5 room. Are we going to be happy about our room choice? What is the difference between category 5 & 6 except price? : :crowded: :

that would be the deck in which they are located...cat 5s are on deck 7...cat 6s are on deck 5 and 6.....

We've cruised in both Cat.5s and 6s. There is no difference between them in layout, only deck location. We just stayed in 7570 (Cat. 5 midship) and had a wonderful trip. The only downside is that you may have a longer walk to your cabin if you are midship. Not a big deal (unless you're like me and forget things in the cabin that you need to go back and retrieve ;) ).

Enjoy your trip!

Hmm. We are booked for 7556. So even though it is sort of "mid ship" at a glance, perhaps we are okay b/c we'll be pretty close to an elevator bank.

PS - I think I would forget my head most days if it wasn't attached, so being close to elevators is probably a good thing!

I think there is a difference in the cat 6 vs Cat 5. Not the room size but when you book a cat 5 you have many less people ( look at the photo samples of each dech and see the difference of how many total rooms there are on deck 6 vs 7) then on deck 7, so therefore it has less noise and has less foot traffic. If the ship is really full it could be a difference of 100+. Which can make a real difference to some people.
Hope this helps :earsboy:
