Catching the 8:00 Red Hook ferry in St. Thomas?

It's simply not possible to catch this ferry, is it? Not unless there is a fluke, and the ship docks early in STT at, like, 7:00-7:15, right?

We always get off the ship ASAFP, but always seem to miss the 8:00 ferry by 10-15 minutes. We then cool our heels in the Red Hook terminal for 45 minutes until the 9:00 shows up.

I'd love to find a way to get to Cruz Bay earlier than the 9:00 Red Hook ferry, but I just can't see how it's possible. Am I wrong?

There's a way to get there a little bit faster but it will costyou. Book with St. John on your own through DCL . Ferry leaves about 8:40 right from the cruise ship. 8:15 is meeting time. Take another ferry home if you need more time.

Thanks much. That is weird, because when we grab the 9:00 at Red Hook, we still seem to get to Trunk a good hour before the DCL group arrives. It's very sparsely populated and pretty awesome.

That was kind of the impetus for my question - how can I make the 8:00 ferry and have two hours on the beach before the tour group arrives.
