Cat staying at Riverside

I know Disney resorts allow dogs and we were staying on 3rd floor of one of the mansion buildings at Riverside and saw a room occupied pet door hangers a couple of doors down from us. My daughter looked at the window as she went by hoping to see the dog and to her great joy a cat was in the window. She was annoyed with me because I told her only dogs could stay at some of the resorts and not cats (not that she would actually take our cats because it would be a disaster on the plane). Anyway this big fat adorable cat was living its best life in the window every time we walked by. We loved it but curious if anyone knows what circumstances would allow it (other than a hurricane which wasn’t happening during our stay). She snapped this pic of it to show me the first time she saw it not realizing we would see it many times lol IMG_8565.jpeg

Wow, adorable, but I didn’t think any Disney hotel allowed cats—just a select few allow dogs only?!?

Wow. I didn’t think they allowed emotional support animals but we did wonder if that was the case. He (or she) was so adorable. We just loved seeing him so much because we missed our cats. We even considered leaving a note for the owner saying how much we loved seeing the cat but decided that would be weird lol.

Haha, yeah definitely for the better. A sweet thought but it could have caused more harm than good depending on the persons issues.

And I’m glad you posted this. Before researching I had no idea anything but dogs were allowed either!

How cute. I love cats but unfortunately, my son has a very sensitive cat allergy, so I guess I'll cross Riverside off our next trip, was going to try that instead of Caribbean Beach again but forgot some hotels allow animals.

This cat looks exactly like our cat, so I showed it to my daughter and said Bella went to Disney World without us! Haha

Every Disney resort has to allow service animals. So if you are worried about an allergy flare up, ask for your room to be deep cleaned. I am allergic to cats too, so one being in the room before me would be a problem.

Disney only recognizes dogs and miniature horses as “service animals” link so you will not encounter a cat having been in a non-pet resort room unless a hurricane situation hits. (In this situation the ADA only requires dogs be recognized as service animals link).
