Just found out that my 2 cat. 11 guarantees turned into new 9's............So excited to have a window!!!

We have always sailed with a veranda before, but this trip is a last minute one and I decided to just book it as cheap as possible, which is why I went with the cat. 11 guarantee. Don't get me wrong, I am soooo excited to get the upgrade.

Just wondering if anyone has any helpful hints or comments about sailing on Deck 1. I'm guessing it is private as not as many stateroom are there............and the stairs to the top aren't really an issue, as I will look at it as a way to eat an extra dessert each night, since I will be exercising just getting to the dining room!

Any and all comments about Deck 1 welcomed..........good and bad! :)

Congrats on the Upgrade!
CAT 9 Deck 1 Pros: Quiet!!!!! Pretty much Mid Ship, and only one or two decks away from the main lobby and Guest Services.
Cons: Sorry, I can't think of any! (oh, maybe one, two small port hole windows instead of one large one. But truly, for a con, thats not all that bad)
We've cruised twice and had the exact same set of rooms CAT 9 Deck 1 both times! Loved it!

Thanks so much for your comments............and I'll take 2 small windows over no windows anytime! :)

Yesterday I gave up a Category 3 in favor of two cat 9s on Deck 1 (my MIL is coming now) and was worried about the same thing. A quick search revealed that almost everyone was very happy with Deck 1. Yay! My cruise isn't until Dec. 4 so please report back how yours goes. I assume yours is sooner.

The neatest thing about the windows on deck one is that they're under water, so you get some great marine life views...:laughing::rotfl2::rotfl2:

No they are NOT under water. That PP was being Funny. You are basically almost at ground level, just above actually. Beautiful Ocean view from small windows! Deck one is the level you Disembark from at ports you visit (Castaway Cay/Nassau and others, except for Embarkation Day and the day your Cruise ends, for those you enter and exit from the main lobby, Can't remember if that is Deck 2 or 3 but I'm thinking 2)

No, No!!! That was a joke about being underwater!!! You will definitely have an ocean view from the Deck 1 windows. No passenger cabins are under the water line so don't worry about that!!! But in rougher seas you will see waves better!!!

We have stayed on Deck 2 and Deck 1 a few times and I have zero complaints about either deck....both are wonderful and all DCL passenger decks are decorated the same you would not be able to tell the difference in decor or service. You are not treated any differently than any other passengers!!!:goodvibes:cool1:

I loved our room on deck 1, in fact I would choose deck 1 again as it was a quiet deck which was great.

And no -it's not underwater, honest!!

We loved decks 1 and 2! They are so quiet and deck 1 made it really easy to get on and off the ship. I can't really think of any cons for deck 1, we would definitely choose it again!

(Oh, and the first time I sailed deck 1, I was also worried about being underwater, lol! Don't worry, it's above water :goodvibes)

I loved our cat 9 deck one on the magic. Here is a picture of the portholes:

My MIL loved how easy it was to get find the cabin.

I had Stateroom #1058 on the Magic while on the 2009 Double Dip last November. Very conveniently located just next to the midship elevator lobby and very quiet. I didn't really care about having one large or two small-sized portholes since I did not spend much time in there. It was my very first cruise and I really liked it. Would take a Deck 1 cabin anytime again.

Hi we have this room booked for our upcoming cruise does it have a steamer trunk?
Thanks!

There are metal covers behind pulled back curtains.

I'm the oddball, I disliked our room (1064) because there was a lot of engine noise and staff constantly coming and going to a backstage area, especially Shutters castmembers with their equipment. We ended up complaining about the noise (it was a banging or thumping noise you could feel) and they gave us Castaway Cay packages for our party of 9. It did keep me awake the first few nights...

It was a convenient location for getting off the ship (although you had to go up to deck 2 and down another staircase) and up to the restaurants/entertainment/kids clubs/shops.
