Help! We just got our docs (:Pinkbounc ), but we are not sure about getting a stateroom on the 1st deck! If anyone out there has ever stayed on the first deck, please help. Is it bad being on the bottom of the boat? Noisy? I was really hoping for a upgrade that I've read many threads about, and was a little disspointed when I saw the stateroom. I know we won't be in our rooms much, but I am still leary of the first deck.
I look forward to your responses!!

I did not know there where any Cat 11 on deck 1
deck plans only show 9 and 10

Deck 1 “The Disney Cruise Line medical center is located here, providing basic medical care from a physician and nurse who are on call 24 hours a day.

“Tenders are also located on Deck 1.”

Category Description
9 “Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom.
Sleeps 3, some sleep 4.”

These rooms have a pair of small portholes. Their diameter is about 1 foot (30 cm).
10 “Deluxe Inside Stateroom.
Sleeps 3, some sleep 2 or 4.”

We went on a cruise last November and was on Deck 1, I don't think I would want any other deck. We had an inside Cat. 10 and against one wall we believe was some sort of boiler room, but it wasn't any louder then our air conditioner at home. As far as liking the 1st deck.....DH has a bit of a problem with sea sickness. Our first night at dinner the waves were a bit choppy and he was having a real problem. We went down to our cabin and you could hardly feel the boat move. And it was that way for the whole cruise. So we like the 1st deck for that reason alone.

I am sorry...it is a category 10, not 11. Thanks, gshoemate! You made me feel a little better! We are also on the inside of deck 1.

ok call and ask to change it....

We have stayed on many of the DCL decks on our cruises and Decks 1 and 2 are my favorites!!! They are so convenient to most shipboard activities except for the pool, obviously.

You are close to Guest Servcies, Shore Excursion Desk, Lumiere's, Walt Disney Theatre, the gift shops, the clubs, the atrium for photo ops with the Characters, Parrot Cay, Animator's, Palate, etc.

And the best thing of all is that when you come and go after an excursion in port....it is so easy to just walk down the hall to your cabin instead of waiting for an elevator (which can take awhile) up to the upper decks!!!

Don't worry and have fun!!!

Well you get on the ship on 3 but anytime you leave at a normal port it is on 1. I do not advise getting a cabin on floor 1 as it is a hassle to go around the ship since you can only access the front (or is it the back) on deck 1. Also on port days it gets pretty noist try to see if you can get your self anything higher like a nice cat 10 should do you for any deck. To me optimum decks are 5 and 6 which are also my favorite categorys but I can understand a lower number for a smaller cruise like we had a 10 on our 3 day.

We stayed on Deck 1 twice. Don't know what your room number will be, but last time on Deck 1 we were in Room 1030 Forward (outside room) last room at the end of the hallway. We loved it! Always very quiet and smooth. We've also stayed in Room l052 near the Mid elevators and there were no problems.

The only noise we ever heard (Room 1030) was for a moment when they pulled the gangway up before leaving each evening. There was a door opposite that room that opened to the Forward elevators which were seldom used. Like having your own private elevator always ready for you.

Have a wonderful time. :boat:
