This is our 1st cruise. We are booked in Cat 11 on Deck 7 of the Wonder? Has anyone stayed in these rooms before? I was told that Deck 7 has the best Cat 11 rooms (because they are higher than most of the other Cat 11 rooms). Is this true? Would it be worth it to upgrade to an outside stateroom or does it even make a difference? We can't upgrade to a room with a Verandah ($$$) so the best we could do would be a window? Any suggestions?

We've cruised twice on the magic, both in a cat. 11. If you're like us, you're rarely in your room except to change and sleep. There was plenty of space. This summer we booked one of the forward 11's on deck 5, that run the length of the ship, they are larger than the std. cat 11 that run the width of the ship. Another thing we like about an inside cabin is there's no light... I get up early, leave the room to run, and my wife and kids sleep in!!

I'd rather be somewhere else on the ship outside than looking outside through a cabin window or veranda.

I agree with Doogierunner except that I am not a runner. When we had a Cat. 11 on Deck 7 we slept late one day--11 am--no problem. (When we had a porthole it was hard to get the room dark.) When we wanted to see outside, we went on a deck. That encouraged us to get out, explore the ship and get some exercise.

Enjoy what you booked, have a great time and use the extra money for an excursion or another cruise sooner.

I agree wholeheartedly with the above posters. Windows are great, verandas a luxury, but we really enjoy cat. 11. Sleeping in is an unknown event here at home, and w/o the light coming in, we feel decadently spoiled sleeping past 7am. DH still likes to get up early sometimes, but really did enjoy sleeping in. But Do Remember To Bring An Alarm Clock!!!

We were on deck 6 midship in January in Cat. 11 and thought the location was perfect.........until we heard that this time we'll be on deck 7 aft......just steps from Secret Deck 7!!!!! Surely it can't get any better?!?!?!?;)

We loved our Cat. 11 room on our first cruise...so much that we requested the same one our upcoming December cruise, but it was already booked. We'll be right next door!

On our third cruise (Dec. 2003) we have a Cat. 4 family suite because...well, because the family is going with us this time!

I'm sure the veranda is a great idea, but I really thing I prefer a dark room since it really helps with sleeping!

We have always stayed in a cat. 11 on the Disney ships. I love a verandah and have booked it on another cruiseline. The cabin is larger than your standard cabin on most ships. It is very nice.
If I can't have a verandah, then I'll take an inside cabin, skip the window.

We'll be in a cat 11 deck 6 inside cabin on 9/7/02. I'll let you know how it turns out. I am hoping that I can get my 2 yr old in for a nap at noon by bringing her into the dark cabin. If there was a window, there would be no way I could get her down for a nap as she'd feel she would be missing something. She would end up passing out about 4:30pm and then we would end up missing dinner. I guess there is always Topsiders! I hope that the dark cabin will be the answer for us.

Thanks to everyone for the info! I think I will be sticking with my Cat 11 Room.

Shellgoodman - I also have a 2 year old. A dark room does sound like an easier way to get naps in!
