I read on another site that people are seeing the decor coming down from the castle on Sept 1. I did grab a pic of the tractors the day I left, Aug 31! So it makes sense they were getting ready.

Here are pics from 2 days ago. The left side of the castle has had the characters removed.

I didn't mind the gold filigree, but I am sooooo glad they're going to take down that awful mirror. I was afraid we'd be stuck with it a la Hand or Hat.

I wonder what they're doing for the Dreams celebration icon?

I wish that the gold was staying, including the mirror. The best bits were the gold spirals and Peter and Wendy. I thought they were nice, and that the classic castle won't seem as fun anymore.

I liked the gold wiring and especially the characters. They made it seem more alive. The mirror can go. How long will this project take? That can't be more than a week or so of work.

I liked the characters and the gold trim, I was not a fan of the mirror thing though. I think it made the castle look cheaper. I can't remember the last time I was there that the castle looked normal. I remember when they turned into a big birthday cake, that I DID NOT like at all!

If you want to see a horrible "tacky" castle..

So... who's got a picture of that real ugly "Birthday Cake Castle" ??? :confused3

I wish the gold was staying. We have NEVER seen the castle decorated. Everytime we go it's always been plain. I was looking forward to seeing some thing one it, but not again. It will have Crhistmas decorations when we go, but I've already seen that.

Folks,

No, no, no, no, no.....

You've not seen a pimped up castle until you've seen what the Company did to Disneyland's castle. You'd almost expect a big pink Cadillac to drive up and unload a bunch of 'girls'...um...princesses...If you know what I mean...

While the rest of the park has a lot of nice touches, i.e., a gold ride vehicle at the original rides, nice 50th anniversary Mickey ear logos throughout the park; the Castle looks like something from a 1970s television movie about inner city L.A. and her more colorful residents. If all Orlando got was a cheesy 'mirror' then call yourselves lucky.

Hopeful that the mirror is gone by the time I get there next Saturday,

Alison

Wouldn't it be cool if they auctioned off the figures? My daughter really loved seeing Peter and Wendy and Tink up there.

Yeah the tacky mirror is gone

I didn't mind the rest of the bling, but the mirror was just wrong!

The 25th was our first visit to WDW (now up to 7!) so we did not know what to expect with the castle, we enjoyed it (i've even got a piece of the covering!) Now having seen it many times since, maybe it was not the best decoration but it will always be special to us because it was our first time.
Now the castle in Paris is, we think, the best, so elaborate, so... French!

Take a while to load, but have a look!

I liked the charactors and trim. Pass on the mirror. Sad to see it go. I wonder what comes next??
