I'm sure it gets crowded and all the chairs and hammocks get taking early. Are the chairs and hammocks needed to be reserved or are they first come first serve?

Are there lots of hammocks?

Whats the best advice on getting these the morning of Castaway Key?

Thank you.

Castaway CAY.

You cannot reserve hammocks - and there are less of those than chairs. But there are plenty of chairs.

Get off ship early, if you want a hammock or chair with umbrella. It does get crowded especially with the bigger ships. I noticed with the addition of the Pelician Plunge area there is a little more beach to share.

️CC is beautiful. Have a wonderful cruise!

We did not find it an issue to get a beach chair or a hammock, the three times we have been to Castaway Cay on the large ships. They announced there are way more beach chairs than passengers, so not to worry.

Definitely more chairs than hammocks. Agree with PP, the hammocks are awesome for about 10 minutes.

It depends where you are heading to. The adult only beach (serenity bay) is not crowded at all... So there is no rush.

We haven't been to CC in a few years, but never had problems getting a set of chairs and umbrella in the first or second row from the water on the family beach any time we were there. Hammocks don't seem to be very conveniently located to the water - the ones near the water aren't very shady, and the ones in the shade are in the very back of the seating area, pretty close to the sidewalks. I think I sat in one once, and they weren't terribly comfortable.

The hammocks do tend to get taken quickly, though - and very rarely are given up. So if you must have one, get to the beach early. You may get a hammock, but should have your pick of chairs.

As people have said yes, there are plenty of chairs and umbrellas BUT if you want them near the water or even remotely close to the water, you need to get there early or you will be back by the walking path.

Getting chairs and umbrellas isn't that hard, but location is the key. If you must have the first row by the water, those go fast. But if you are ok with some further back, those are available most of the day. Many people take the smaller chairs (not loungers) right up to the water and sit there.

There are four hammocks behind the building where you can rent snorkeling equipment. Two of them stayed shaded most of the day, while the other two were in the sun.

That's where my husband and I spent the entire day at Castaway Cay last week. We got some sun, it was quiet, and we ended up napping off and on. Heavenly!

We were on the Fantasy this past January and it was our first time at CC. We made the mistake of getting off the ship about 30 minutes after the all clear had been announced and had the WORST time finding 4 chairs free. Forget 4 - we barely found ONE!

I don't know what we were doing wrong (besides getting off the ship 'late') but this soured our experience at CC and we were back on the ship by 1:30m enjoying an empty pool deck and no lines on the aquaduck. Next trip to CC we will get off right away and/or put the kids in Scuttles Cove and head to the adult only beach :cool1:

Can we save our chairs on adult only beach when we go get lunch?

We usually leave our belongings on our chairs when we head to lunch. Never had anyone move them. But if they did, I wouldn't have a problem. There are always plenty of chairs at Serenity Bay. Now we don't spend hours on end at lunch or away from our chairs. Just 30 minutes for lunch and time splashing around in the water.

I don't know that it's specified anywhere about saving/reserving loungers at Castaway Cay, but I'd think the same rules apply - no seat saving on the pool decks.

I disagree.....on Castaway Cay there are plenty of chairs and I do not feel the need to remove my stuff while I go to lunch and then look for more chairs when I get back. It is assumed most everyone will spending the day at the beach there so once I pick a set of chairs I am keeping them the whole day.

the pool deck is different as there is a limited amount of chairs.

I have never had a problem finding chairs and umbrellas at CC and we have been there dozens of times. We get there early or late and never had a problem. I do not need to be in the first row. I actually prefer being further back. Sometimes I will pull a chair near the water but mostly do not.

I tried the hammocks once and it was enough....so uncomfortable for me. I also hate the rope marks they leave. Now, if they were solid fabric hammocks that would be a different story.
