Castaway Day...(of rain)

What kind of "Rain"? When i said rain, it was torrential. light or moderate when debarking so i did swim but after lunch TORRENCIAL.
Yea we did our snorkel in the morning during a drizzle which was fine, but around 12 it was a hard rain that made doing anything pretty miserable and it lasted for hours. we headed back to the ship along with everyone else completely soaked. Our sandals didn’t dry out for 2 days. You know it was bad when they were handing out dry towels once you boarded the ship again

I kind of laugh when i hear water is chilly. Tropic chilly is my New England best...we average 69 degrees in summer
And the lowest recorded water temperature in the area of Castaway Cay is 73 degrees. My gym keeps the outdoor pool at 70 degrees year round. But to be fair, if the air temperature is in the 70's, it can feel cook when you are wet.

Worst vacation rain I ever experienced was our only trip ever to WDW 6 years ago. First week of June pouring rain and very little shelter, things had to close down which amazed me. Isn't like they park hasn't been there 50 years and that they have had 50 years to put a roof over some of those booths that had to close.
I am reminded of being in Hawaii where it basically rains every day. "Pineapple juice" as the tour guides call it. Doesn't slow things down.

Looks like the Dream sailing this week will be full of rain. Last year this time weather was perfect on the cruise but heavy rains are expected this entire week FLL to Bahamas…. Sad but we’ll deal

It was a storm due to a bad weather system. There's no way to plan around that months in advance, unfortunately. I've cruised several late fall and winter cruises with beautiful sunny and warm weather, but once in January a real cold front blew through and left everything chilly and windy. Luck of the draw.

In summer you commonly get regular afternoon showers. Late summer and early fall are hurricane season. There is no one perfect time of year to go in terms of weather.

As has been said, weather is unpredictable - and even with forecasting, it can change.

I was on what was to be a Double Dip to CC a few years ago. The first day, we docked, the island crew had debarked, and a few guests debarked when the gangway opened in spite of it looking cloudy. Well, they all ended up sheltering in a bathroom due to severe lightning until the golf carts could come and get them. Gangway closed. And the storm raged ALL DAY. The gangway never reopened. The captain came to the shows that night to apologize and said that every single forecast they consulted showed the weather moving over the island quickly - but it decided to sit. So we sat, tied up to the dock (because that was safer than trying to navigate the channel the ship uses to get on and off the island) all day, sometimes able to see the island we should have been playing on, other times not even seeing the post office from the ship.

Also, it's not just winds that can affect docking at CC. It's also the ocean currents. The days when the currents are too strong but everything else is beautiful are the hardest for the crew because those days especially are when people are much more apt to complain about no CC - because to them it looks perfect. They have no clue what's going on under the surface.

Unfortunately, Disney cannot control the weather, so blaming them for it is really unfair.
