Just got off my first Disney cruise (The Wish) and it was beyond Amazing !!!!
Only complaint is the weather at both land days were RAIN and Heavy. Castaway wash a wash away.
Question for you Pros out there is what suggestions for planning around this and I know you can't predict the weather but there must be good months and bad months because I must plan another cruise. Last, I remember of castaway is the tear in my wife's eye and must replace with tears of joy. May even plan a double dipper castaway trip.
Thank you in advance friends!

We were on the same cruise I bet last week. It was bad to have 2/3 full days on the sailing hampered by all day rain. It is always a risk sailing in summer, and then of course September and October is still hurricane season. Theres also chances of not even being able to dock at Castaway due to winds any time of year—someone can correct me but I think I read winter has a higher chance of that happening. We have been to Castaway in March, June, and September before and this was our first all day rain.

We still did the stingray excursion first in the morning, did a trip down pelican plunge, and had a drink under cover. But we finally bailed at 1230 and went back to the ship where my daughter rode the AquaMouse 4 times in an hour so that helped!

Any time of year you go there will always be a risk of SOMETHING. Often storms out there come and go quickly so even if its raining you may get lucky and get half a day with perfect weather. Best weather I've had cruising was Jan/Feb but some people say its too cold to swim then. Personally, I had no problem in the water. It was sub zero at home for us so it was HOT for us. People use to the hot it wasn't as hot. My last cruise in Sept was MISERABLY hot and to me the water felt like a bathtub. But we had no rain.

I've only ever been in late September and the weather was perfect. I think an afternoon shower rolled in but we were back on board by then. I don't mind bath water though...since the water up here is so stupidly cold year round (high 60s in the summer, just above freezing in the winter). Maybe the ocean water cracks 70 every once in a while...

It’s always a risk but there is a higher chance of rain in the summer/fall. You may wish to try a different time of year. We’ve sailed 4 times in Feb. 3/4 times our CC day was great!! The other time was cool, cloudy and eventually rainy but we thankfully could still enjoy it.

Hope you still enjoyed it despite the weather! This was our 4th DCL cruise, and we loved the Wish. She has a bad rep mostly among people who have cruised DCL before, but we had a great time and would like to sail on her again

So I looked it up because we're going in February and all I read is people saying that the water is cold in the winter, the "coldest" water temps I've seen for Castaway Cay are the warmest ocean temps in NH....basically.

I'm glad you had a wonderful trip. I've been to CC three times and only once did it rain in the afternoon. February was just gorgeous as was April. September was the rain but not bad because we were pretty ready to reboard anyway.

I’ve had the most success in Jan/Feb.
My friends haven’t ventured in the ocean claiming it’s too cold! I’m from the uk and a cold temperature in CC is like the hottest day of the year in the uk! I’m in immediately and stay in too!

Rained when we were on Castaway Cay, no big deal as we planned to be snorkeling all morning so we were already going to be wet. Rented bikes for the afternoon, and were still in our swimwear, so we had a great time. I was amazed how many people stayed on the ship, or spent little time on the island just because it was raining.

I find the end of April - late May or early November and early December to be ideal for both weather and cruise fares.

It doesn’t work great for those bound to school schedules, but it is great for adults and those with young children. It can still be warm, but not the hot of summer.

Glad to hear you still had a great time.

We've been to CC 18 times. 2 times we had untenable weather. Once, there was lightning (!) which made the tram ride back exciting. The other time a heavy storm blew in, bending the palms nearly all the way over. Waves picked up so that we had rollers in the lagoon. We didn't head ashore that day. Many other times had sprinkles/light rain that we just pushed through. It's weather. It happens.

What kind of "Rain"? When i said rain, it was torrential. light or moderate when debarking so i did swim but after lunch TORRENCIAL.

For me it was no issue at all! It was perfect for me! Now for someone who lived in Florida okay maybe it was a little chilly for them but for me the water was perfect. No complaints from anyone in my party (adults or children)

I kind of laugh when i hear water is chilly. Tropic chilly is my New England best...we average 69 degrees in summer

Steady drizzle all day. Like I said, we were snorkeling, so we were already wet.
