what is it, do you get a discount for being part of it and how do you get the discount if you do get one..

were taking our first cruise in may 2005 but am thinkin about a suprise christmas cruise for dec 2005. well the one before rates go up ( dec 18 me thinks).

if there is a discount would i be able to book now before i go on the first cruise to get best rates and then apply the discount after may 2005, or would i have to wait to book and deal with what ever rates i get in may 2005.

I may be way off the mark here, but thanks for your help!!!

That Castaway Club is for those coming back to DCL after 1 cruise. We got a card after our first cruise and used the number when we rebooked. Apparently you dont get a better rate you just get a few "perks" like a Castaway Club check in line when you get to the port as opposed to regular lines although I've heard they usually arent any faster in the CC line than the regular line. They also give you a stateroom gift. I think I read it was 1 beach towel and some pins maybe?? The last thing is you get a "welcome back" reception where they have drinks and appetizers and I think you get to meet the Captain or some of his crew. It doesnt give you any money off (at least I dont think it did for us) but it does give you a few things. Your best choice of getting a deal on that sailing you are talking about is booking early! I'd get a quote from Dreams Unlimited and see what it might be and if they are offering stateroom credits. For us it for this cruise in May we got 2 connecting 8 cabins which entitled us to $75.00 per room of credit which we are using to book an excursion in St. Thomas. The earlier you book the better rate you get. I dont know if rebooking on board is an even better rate but I am sure others do.

You'll automatically become a "Castaway Club" member after your first Disney cruise. While you don't get any discounts for being a Castaway Club member, they do have several perks. When you cruise as a CC member, you'll be invited to a CC reception with free snacks and drinks...and you'll receive a really cool CC gift in your stateroom. It could be a beach towel, picture frame, or whatever gift they are giving at that time.

To get a discount on subsequent cruises, the easiest thing to do is rebook while onboard the ship. The enables you to take advantage of any onboard ship credits or for DVC members, you may have an opportunity to rebook using fewer points.

Other folks may have ideas on how to get great rates for your first cruise.

Good luck and Happy Cruising!!!
