Castaway Cay wedding/VR ?s - Got pictures of enhancements!

I don't know. I kind am under the impression that Cathy and her assistants are sooo busy that we are all processed the same way and nothing is said unless its asked about. Maybe?

Our groups coordinator said that we could have stuff brought from the disney florist so I am going to take another gander at their website. Maybe they are the ones who did the torch stuff? In the pictures it lookes like the poles are stuck into a big base covered in sand. So if its still an option those bases must be lurking around CC somewhere...

I feel like if it weren't an option Cathy would have said something like - there are additional floral enhancements in these pictures that are no longer available or something.

it is pretty windy over on that spot (which is like a peninsula)especially in January..I didn't use rose petals for that reason

That was a big concern of mine too! Here is my question. I know that this is THE beach wedding spot. But if you look at a map of the island so little of it is acutally used by the cruise guests.

Do you guys think that there is any sort of hidden anything farther away from the masses of people somewhere else on the island that could be used?

I think the current spot is really really pretty. I am just concerned about the wind and all of the people staring at us from the family beach. I was kind of hoping we could find our own little area super far away from everyone else to both have the ceremony and hang on the beach for the day.

good luck with it..11 years of storage??

Ask if they can get a picture of them..like the bunting in the brochure that is no longer used, this may be something that just over time because unusable

the only other beach is over by the teens and I KNOW you don't want to be there

It isn't that close to beach guests..we staked out there last year with our group and we had the whole area to ourself..they will block it off so no one wonders over
Lisa has better insight to this, but here is a shot of the area I have..not many people except our group

Wow! The tiki torches are really pretty! I hope you can do it. Cathy told me that when it gets closer to my VR that I can work with a Disney florist to add on whatever flowers I want. So I have no idea what my choices are.

I would make sure that they are really going to have those. I would think that after 11 years that they have made enough $ to replace them if they deteriorate.

This gets me excited about our VR! Thanks for the pics

see the white swag..that is bunting...You should get a small 8.5" x 6" book with all the wedding information..ALL DFTW info..I just found mine the other day..it has a Coach on the front and information about the different types of DFTW..from Intimate to David Tutera

The above picture is from that book

here is what it looked like for mine

The Beach where we were was near the heads up bar. It is blocked off from all people during the wedding. People at the family beach can still see you, but they are pretty far away. It was very private feeling. Also it was cool when we kissed the whole beach seemed to cheer.

I was told Disney Floral could do anything I wanted, BUT it was so pretty we didn't need one thing. Flowers on the ground would have blown away before I got to the beach, it was WINDY! Also It was very hard to get answers from Cathy about the Floral changes (I changed my bouquet some). Good luck.

Personally I don't like the torches, the wedding is at 10am, it is LIGHT out and I think it would be wasted money. I think they would take away from the beauty of the natural decorations.

Good Luck trying to get Disney to let you use the undeveloped parts of the island...The only section that is available for use by guest is the area that has been developed.

I don't know, I kinda like the tiki torches with flowers...

and I really wish I could get more clear answers (here, or from Cathy) about any enhancements. As a CC bride I'd like to get more clear information about our Palo reception, decorations, etc. The package she emailed me is so plain, and I can't really find much on the website either.

I mean I'm pretty relaxed, but still... being told we'll talk about it all 90 days out is a recipe for stress disaster for me LOL!

At least you got something!!! I haven't gotten anything from Cathy - Just the pictures which I had to email and ask for. We are running down to WDW in a few weeks for site visits - I am going to try to see if they will let me pop into the florist and take a look around. I want to ask them what the options are and what they can do as far as enhancements. If I find out anything really interesting I will post when I get back.

I think the whole DCL wedding department (as small as it is) needs to be restructured. I like all of the people I have encountered. I just don't think they are empowered enough and I don't think that there are enough of them. It is really truely ridiculous to not be able to find anything out until 60 days prior and I honestly don't know how brides put up with it. Thats one of the big reasons I want to switch to a wishes wedding - then we can sign a contract instantly and know about every little detail of everything. I mean what if 60 days out you get some sort of ugly surprise? What if you aren't happy with what you see when they tell you more about your wedding. At that point its too late to switch to anything else. We got next to no information except for what was on the website before we had to make reservations for us AND all of our guests. I am a VERY grumpy dcl bride.

Just an add on - 60 days out your stateroom is already paid in full. I know they most likely wait because things change on the ship and they don't want to confirm stuff then have it change. But I mean at that point 60 days out you are roped into something you really don't know much about. You are entrusting the most important day of your life to someone you barely know and just have to go with the flow. I honestly can't deal with the fact that there is so little control. The more I think about it the more I just want out. GRRRRRRR.

So I will update everyone with any info I can find out during our site visits.
