Castaway Cay, Serenity Bay construction

I feel bad for the crew. They deserved their own space totally away from guests.

I have. It was nice to have the attendants to pick us up in golf carts because my dad was a couple of weeks away from hip replacement surgery, but it was certainly not a "my cruise would be ruined" if I didn't get one and 100% NOT the only reason I'd book concierge. A lot of people just like feeling special and like they're away from the "unwashed masses" of the rest of the ship though.
The term " unwashed masses" is inappropriate and derogatory. The definition, in case you did not know .. "The collective group of people who are considered to be uneducated, uninformed, or in some other way unqualified for inclusion in the speaker's elite circles."

I think I am the reason we're discussing whether or not it ruined your cruise (because I said that I cancelled a Concierge room after failing to secure a cabana) but I'm not sure if @Dug720 is specifically referring to me or not. In my case, we just switched to another sailing in balcony staterooms because the primary (only?) reason we think Concierge has value on a shorter cruise is to be able to secure cabanas. We'd rather take 2x as many sailings than pay 2x for the room. I don't blame Disney for not having cabanas, I just knew I'd be frustrated on the sailing if the waitlist didn't clear and wanted to avoid putting myself in that headspace.

Just to add a little more humanity to our conversation, the main reason I try to get cabanas is because I have a long-term injury that makes walking on the beach (something I used to do frequently and love) cause a lot of pain, especially if I am schlepping a day's worth of beach supplies (though I'm lucky to have a husband who is a mostly cheerful pack mule). I suspect a lot of people with mobility related disabilities love that they have a place that's accessible without too much walking/chair-hunting. I know other families who try to get them because they have kids who are overwhelmed by too much noise and chaos and do better in the calmer environment, and other families who like to have them for nap time, etc. I'm sure many people like them simply because they are hard to get and some simply because it's a more relaxing day in the midst of an action packed cruise. I don't know this for sure, but I'd be surprised if the snootiest people sail DCL often because there's really not a true suite/concierge product that keeps you away from your fellow cruisers.

I hope they are building more cabanas but I also think it would be cool if they added a lower-tier accessible-friendly option like a single platform that had 10-20 daybeds/casabellas you could reserve (like on hotel pool decks) that are close to the paved roads but elevated enough you can enjoy the view of the beach/ship.

My family stayed in a Concierge stateroom back in 2014. It was the end of August and a 3 night cruise. It was $2800 for the 4 of us. The price was right.
We snagged a Cabana for $500 and had a fabulous time. We loved it.

Now prices have gone up and we have not sailed Concierge again. Howerver, DH and I have a Concierge stateroom book for 2026. Yes, its a little pricey, but we are celebrating some big milestones.

I personally would love to have the finances to cruise Concierge more often. I think how folks spend their hard earned cash is personal.

Happy cruising to everyone.

PS. We have cruised all catergories of staterooms, they are all great because you are on a Disney Cruise!!!
Concierge would be a once in a lifetime thing for me. Definitely is on the DCL bucket list.

That said, I will not complain over a "regular" oceanview or verandah stateroom!

YES, do love your enthusiasm and love for Disney Cruising. Congrats on your milestones! For my wife and I we could cruise more often or... concierge. Our time is limited so we chose a little more luxury over less time :) I don't need to be Pearl, can slum it down here in Gold lol. Like you said, it's all good.

edit: I have a bad sense of humor, was not disparaging being gold. though I have been told several times my thoughts don't count because I have only cruised 5 times lol. :P Perhaps, but oh have I been enjoying it!

LOL! I have been on these boards since my first cruise in 2010. I am a planner and I read/watch everything I can. After one cruise I had a lot to share here.

I think everyone no matter how many you cruises you have taken will always have something to share on these boards.
Civility and kindness are a must when posting.

10 cruise down, the next is #11. I hear I will be getting a few more perks!!! What fun!

We are about to do cruise 10, I hope you’ll come back and report about what it’s like to be platinum. I’m ready to be done with the mustard yellow Mickey lanyards. 🙃
