Hello All! I have a few "first timer" questions for all you experienced cruisers!! Can anyone tell me how deep snorkel lagoon is? Does anyone know if they will only rent the snorkel vests or do you have to rent/pay for the entire package? Can anyone tell me what the heck an "aqua fin" is? Can you rent jet skis w/out a guide?

I don't know how deep, but the lifeguards are very strick that you wear a life vest if you are snorkling, even in shallow water! The swim vests are free because they are required. Now the snorkle equipment is another thing, that you have to rent. We brought our own--much cheaper.

Can you really find OK snorkel equipment for less than the 25.00 fee?

if you are looking for snorkel gear i suggest checking out the sales at diversdirect.com or other Dive related sites. They usually have specials that run on masks and stuff. And the equipment is far better than anything you could rent. I think the lagoon is no deeper than 35 feet to answer your question about that.

Do the 32.00 "special". Floats, bike rental and snorkel equipment. The last 5 visits to CC the masks tended to leak if no pulled tight......On our last sailing 11/20/04 (2 stops at CC) the lagoon was shallower the I remember. I was told it was due to the hurricanes. I am 6ft tall and could touch bottom 'till about half way out. It was REAL shallow by the bouys sp? by the swimming area.

I brought my own snorkel gear. You can get stuff inexpensively if you look. $25 to rent it was crazy. You could buy your own for that much.

Thank you all for your replies. I suppose I should have said that my kids received snorkel gear from my parents as birthday & Christmas gifts. Gear minus the vest. So, swim vest are free because they are required? That's all I needed to know. I didn't want to lug the equipment if I was going to have to pay full price for just the vest. Thanks for the answer!!
