Past December DCL cruisers please tell me what your weather was like on Castaway Cay, including the Ocean's tempature, and what day of the month you were there. Would you cruise again on the Wonder in December? Thanks
we went Dec 15, 2001....the weather was fabulous...I would say water temp 75-80 degrees....air temp 80-85....December is really a great time to cruise....
went every other december starting in 2000. Benn there 2 times over december. The first time the weather was so bad we couldnt' get in. The other two were wonderful. The trip in 2002 was absolutly gorgous. The water was really warm. The past trip 12/18/04-12/28/04, it was overcast and the lagoon was closed due to a massive storm that had moved in the night before, but it was still wonderful and warm. I would highly recomend going.
My family and I went the first full week in December in 1999. The air temp was great but we found the water a bit cool. We still went in, just took a little time to get use to it. As long as we kept moving it was fine.
We have cruised twice in December - middle of the month and NYE. Both times the weather was beautiful and warm BUT the water was chilly/cold.
We did not swim but did have fun loungeing and eating along with riding bikes. Our DD13 who is a fish and loves the water did not stay in too long because of the temperature.
We loved December because of the decorations on the ship and CC.
We were on the 12/4-12/11 magic cruise. Weather at Castaway Cay was just OK - mostly overcast but not cold. Water, on the other hand, was a bit chilly - so much that my kids (6, 4 1/2 and 1) refused to get in at all. We'd rented snorkeling equipment for the whole family and were disappointed. At least it didn't rain tho!
We have been to CC twice in December, and both times were cool (not cold), windy days. The water was cool at the shore but we went snorkeling both times. Actually, we found the water warmer as we got out further from the shore and felt fine as long as we were swimming. We definitely didn't spend as much time in the water as we would have on a warmer day, but enjoyed other activities, such as biking.
I have been to CC twice during the month of December - once we went the second week of December and once we sailed the week of Christmas. Sunny warm days both times and we swam.
we were on CC Friday, 12/3/04. the weather was wonderful when we got there. water was on the cooler side....way cooler side. dark clouds started rolling in around 2:30 pm....a pretty good drop of rain came and gone within 2 hours.
Weather at Nassau was great. Spent the day at Cable Beach, and everybody was swimming.
Weather at CC was AWESOME. Spent the entire day on the beach and we all went swimming. DH snorkelled all day!
It is MHO that what is "warm" or "cold" is based entirely on where you live and what you are used to. So, we live in the DESERT, and were completely comfortable swimming and sunbathing this past December.
I will note that the week after us the weather apparently turned pretty cool, so I do believe it is a crapshoot. We are "crapshooting" again this December!
We were on the Wonder 12/19-12/23/04. The weather was great. Very warm. I think it was in the mid 80's. I actually got sunburned. I thought the water was to cold to swim in, but all of the kids at the beached loved it. Just to cold for me.
Dec 9, 2004~ It was too cold to swim at CC. Very few braved it..but not me! I didn't even swim on the ship cause the air was chilly. But however, I did make it to the hot tub with my children.
