Castaway Cay Cabana Included

So would you all say that these amenities are worth the price? The current price for my upcoming cruise is $590.

The only reason I found the Cabana worth it in February was something totally unintended when I snagged it as a surprise for my parents when we went on the Magic in Feb (yes, I was using it too, but it was going to be a morning of Castaway surprise for them). My dad started having a lot of hip pain and found out he was going to have to have hip replacement surgery a couple of weeks after the cruise. They were still coming on the cruise, but he said something about he might stay on board on Castaway day rather than be out on the island walking around, so I told them early that I'd gotten us a Cabana. Having the host take us to the Cabana in the golf cart and being able to ring for the golf cart when he needed to go to the bathroom or was ready for lunch and at the end of the day made that day super enjoyable for us when it could have been much more difficult. But personally, barring cruising with someone with mobility issues such as that, I can find much more effective uses for that kind of money. (And we were on Serenity Bay, so it was a little less I think.)

Yes, it is about $100 cheaper for SB. We will have our kids with us, so that isn't an option for us.

Well, sort of. The base price for a cabana on the family beach includes up to 6 people. The base price on a Serenity Bay cabana only includes 4. Additional people (at either location, maximum 10 people) are $50.00 per person.

I was dead set of trying to snag a cabana, but I thought it was about $200 cheaper than what it actually is. Now, I don't know that I can justify the added expense. :confused3

Like so many things on Disney, "Is it worth it" will get so many different answers. There are a number of splurges: Remy, a cabana, photo package, veranda stateroom, spa treatment, high end shore excursion, etc. In that list, I have 2 things that are well worth it, and 4 things that are a real waste of my hard earned money.

As for the cabanas, they sell out very quickly, usually to concierge and platinum members. They must be worth it so a lot of folks, and they will sing the praises of a full day on a tropical island in your own private retreat. As with many things, Disney has priced it just right to make a healthy profit while appealing to enough folks to sell out.

If you get one, you will love it. If you don't get one you will love your day at CC.

Value is such a subjective thing, there's no way someone can tell you if it's worth it for you. For me, First Class air to Seattle is worth every penny, while my family balks at paying to fly on anything more expensive than Southwest.

I've always been happy enough just on the regular beach. One way to think about it is to treat the cabana as an excursion. Divide the cost of the cabana by the people in your family, and that gives you your per day cost for each person. If you would spend a similar amount on a short excursion, then it may very well be worth it for you.

Yes. I love the privacy, the exclusivity, the cart rides, the concierge who you can summon at the press of a button, the "included" snorkel gear and bike ride, and yes all the chips and sunscreens and, and, and...yes, $590 seems like a perfectly reasonable price to me for all of that. Maybe not to others, but to me.

As a PP said, many people seem to feel this way as the cabanas sell out every cruise, and sell out VERY early in the process to Platinums who have done a lot of cruises . So a lot of people, voting with their wallets, who have done a lot of Disney cruises, think it's a good price for them.

But that's what I/they think. It may not be for you, though! Good luck with your choice!

Maybe I will leave it up to fate. If, somehow, I am able to snag one in the 85 days until our cruise, I will do it. If not, maybe next time. :tiptoe:
