Hi all,

My partner would like to run the CC 5K when we are there in May. He is obviously interested in purchasing the t-shirt also to say he has done the run as well.

Was just wondering if you are able to purchase this t-shirt when you sign up, or at the end of the 5K? Or is it even in the normal gift shops on the island?

Also, do you sign up for this when you get to CC, or on the ship beforehand?

Thanks all :)

Your Navigator will tell you what time and where to meet for the 5k. There is no pre sign-up which is nice. I was just on the Dream a couple weeks ago and we met up on board at 8:30. Then you walk as a group from the ship to the starting line. Once you get there they are quick to lay out the course and get you started so there is no time to purchase the shirt. Luckily you end at the starting line so it is easy to pick up the shirt right after finishing.

We bought our shirts at the store near the bike rentals (this is also where the run starts). It is not available on the ship as of our last trip June 2012.:)

The shirts are sold at the gift shop by the area where the run starts (next to the bicycle rentals).

They have an assortment of sizes and usually some sizes run out. I'd suggest someone else goes buy it in the morning.

Also, if the size is out, ask nicely to get more from the back - they usually have more specially if they have another cruise the next day.

You can't purchase it at sign-up. This is done early morning the day of, typically on one of the lounges. You'll all then walk of the ship together, and get a group picture with Goofy (in a runner's outfit). Then you walk to the starting point (next to the bicycle rental).

There's a gift shop right there - that's where they have the shirts - however, if you are a walker, when you come back, you might not find the right size. A suggestion is if someone else is going with the runner, have that person get the shirt.

That did not happen on my cruise (Feb 9th was our CC day). And it's the first I've heard of it, so I'm not sure anyone should expect that to happen.

There seems to be a bit of inconsistency with the CC5K start and finish. I guess anyone new can just look at this as all the possibilities.

We also did a group shot with goofy as we left the ship and have bibs and medals as souvenirs. We did not get certificates. For us, it was just the joy of pavement running rather than circles (ok maybe very oblong ovals) on deck 4 or hamster wheeling it! :)

It's not a timed race so I imagine people do whatever yhry would in a similar home event? Since my PR for a 5k is just ~38 minutes, people whiz zing by with finish times around 18" always stun me!

I ran it yesterday with a personal worst because it was so humid...and probably because I had been eating and drinking a little too much!

During the 5K I did last month on March 30, there were several people running very fast...I"d say 6-7 min milers. One person actually did the course twice to equate to a 10k!! I will say we had perfect weather...mid-70s and the humidity wasn't awful.

Thank you so much all. I wasn't planning on doing it so I will be the chief TV shirt collector instead :)

I hope DB does get the picture with Goofy!!

Thanks again :)

I ran the 5K on Saturday and bought a tshirt about an hour after the run. The tshirts were sold in the shop right by the start/finish. I did notice that there were only one or two of the smaller sizes (S,M,L) but lots of XL, 2XL and 3XL. I did not ask if there was more stock in the back.

Ran it in August a few years ago and thought I might never run (anywhere) again...heat and humidity were crazy! No t-shirt at that time, so my only proof was my bib, but still a very cool souvenir. We went back in December 2012 and I didn't run and immediately regretted it. Weather was beautiful. I was kicking myself all day for not even getting out there, especially as we were getting off the ship and the runners were coming back with big smiles. I still bought a t-shirt to commemorate my first time! On this particular visit, the CC shop actually had two versions of a 5K t-shirt and plenty of available sizes all day, so I guess it's just a matter of when they get a new shipment.

For anyone who runs a 5K (or more) from time to time, this is a really neat opportunity that is, obviously, reserved strictly for people on a DCL ship. Not the most scenic 5K you'll ever run, but still a great experience. Would love to see them figure out a way to wind this route around by the beaches, at least for part of the run. With a sufficient head start off the ship (there is already a bit of one now, I think -- not so my first time), they could easily make that work (already a good sidewalk network) and have pretty much everybody finished before the rest of the people hit the beaches.

Does anyone know if you can stagger your starting time?

My wife and I are both runners, but our kids are too small to join in the fun, or be left alone (3 & 4).

I imagine you can't leave the kids onboard at the Club while we are off the ship.

Seems like a great idea, but unless they have a double baby jogger I guess on of us might have to miss out on the opportunity.

You can leave your kids at the club while you are off the ship. I believe that Oceaneers Club has a location on CC that day, but the nursery is on the ship.

If I sign up to do it can my dh and kids get off the ship with me? I want someone there to take photos of me crossing (collapsing) the finish line. Oh and having someone to carry me back to the ship would be handy too lol

Thanks for the info! We haven't been to CC yet, and didn't know there was a Club on the island. The boys will be happy!

I made an 11am for stingrays. Do we have time for5k? I'm a marathon runner. Would be cool.
