Cast Members and Their Name Tags...

I used to forget my name tag every once in a while (usually in the laundry basket) when I worked at the Boardwalk, since I'd wear my costume home. My name's Dana, but I was also Maria, Anna, Amy, Sarah, Consuela, Jamie, and Felix. The costuming CM just handed me whatever was in the drawer. I only forgot it once when I worked in MK custodial, and I just borrowed a friend's, since she wasn't working, so I was Elizabeth from Ohio that day.

But yeah, that happens fairly regularly :)

So what happens if someone is wearing your tag and you get in trouble because of how "you" acted? Do they list who had who's name tag that day?

I was wondering the same thing because when a guest reports a Cast Member they need to give his or her name, but what happens if that Cast Member forgot their name tag? Chances are that guest won't know about it and I don't think the Cast Member would say this is my real name in that situation. Unless that guest also says where it happened and the time, so WDW can then check the schedule of who was working there when it happened.

I don't go along with the name tag change for security.

You must were a name tag. It should be your name. If you lose yours you grab what ever is around until you replace yours.

Once when we went to see the Dapper Dan's DD said "Hi, Joe". I tried to correct her, because his nametag didn't say Joe. He quickly put his hand over the nametag with the wrong name and explained that he had forgoten his and was wearing someone elses. It was rather embarrasing for him and me, but DD is excellent with names and remembered him from our last trip.:cool2:

we were talking to a cm at the pin station when you first walk into dhs...her name tag said pie fan...so dh starting talking to her about that...i walked away...turns out it wasn't her name....she either didn't get one yet (still new) or had lost hers? i don't remember, but i remember her saying she wished her name was pie fan

:rotfl2::lmao:

At 'Ohana we had a waiter whose name was Nate (he introduced himself as all good waiters do), but his name tag said Dick from Orlando. By the time our bill came and had Nate's name on it, we were confused because we kept referring to him as Dick. Aren't pina colavas great?

My area does. In order to get a nametag, you have to hand over your company ID as collateral and they note which tag you took.

In the MK you actually get a new nametag at wardrobe (which is not near your area) but you have to "check out" the nametag so they know who has what.

But really, Disney goes more by location and time to know what castmembers are up to. Most guests don't notice names (DISers aren't most guests ;) )
Usually, a Guest Service interaction goes like this:
Guest "I just wanted to leave a note saying that the CM outside Test Track was so great today!" then Guest Services will ask if you know a name and, if not, will ask you what time you were there. If you said "around 3:30pm," guest services tells the manager at TT, who looks in the computer to see who was working Greeter at TT at 3:30 that day and makes the notation.

Same thing for a CM that was "doing something wrong"

I once had a experience with a CM at the pool at the BC. Her name tag said she was from a town next to ours, but after a conversation with her she had no clue about the town.

CMs are required to wear a nametag but it does not have to be theirs, it can have another name on it. What is wierd is a male can wear a name tag with a female name lol

I used to know a guy who wore one that said "Barbara," I guess that was his punishment for forgetting his own tag..

Yes, this happened to me today at DHS. The woman taking our orders name's tag said, Glenn and she was definatley not a Glenn. So I asked her if she forgot her name tag and she laughed and said yes!

What if it was Glenn Close taking your order???:lmao:

We have taken the Behind the Seeds tour twice and always wondered if the tour guides were using fake names to go along with their jobs. The first one was Terra and the second time we had Landon. We did ask, but both swore that was their real names.

Many of the CMs, who are part of the international college program, pick a name for the badge. Disney feels their real names are too difficult for guests to pronounce. Some of them pick really odd names, in my opinion. I've seen Echo and Cloud several times.
