Is this a rumor or not?

Years ago I heard CMs have a secret signal to each other. Something to do with touching your nose with your finger, like the signal in the "The Sting".

Do they still do that? I would love to see what reactions I would get from all the CMs.

While "some" longtime CM's may have a little thing, I doubt there is any real CM signals that are known among all CM's. So many new CM's come in all of the time and so many don't even know one another, I'd be willing to bet that aside from just something a few may do for fun (not directly relating to WDW) it's a rumor. Maybe a CM can clear this up though. There's plenty on here.

Each location has different signals - however, there are certain ones that resonate through many park attractions, such as numbers and other basic things like that.

I think this may fall under the "well, we could tell you, but then we'd have to kill you" rules . . . :cool1:

My brother, who is a costume character performer, told me there are several hand signals costume characters use to communicate with other CM's since they can't speak. He specifically told me that when a costume character recognizes someone and wants to say hi, they touch their finger to their eye, then their nose, then to the other person, meaning "I know you."

That's the only one he told me specifically. I'm sure there are many more for costume characters, but I don't know of any that all CM's use.

CM here... I don't work inside the parks, but as far as I know we don't have any special signals or anything. I do know the characters, like the person above said, do have to use some signals since they can't voice what they want to.

The "disney point" is often the tell tale sign of a CM in the parks as a guest. Other than that - the only signals i know are ride specific.

And I am a CM.
