I've been a cast member for three years and this will be the first trip using my discount. I've been trying to find out which restaurants and counterservices accept our discount. I would have posted this on the cast member forum, but I can't seem to get permission to use it. Any help would be appreciated. Vacation dates are August 21 through August 29.

Thanks Lady Diana:earsgirl:

Ask other CMs at your store, I'm sure they'd be able to help you with that info! Have a great trip! :cool1:

To gain access to the Cast Member forum, you need to send an e-mail to doc@wdwinfo.com. I'm not sure what info is needed, but when I did it, I included my area and location number as well as my hire date.

As far as discounts go, I will send you a PM with the little info I have. There is a CM who posts frequently on the CM forum who has a detailed list, which she has offered to e-mail to any CM who needs it. Quite understandably, CMs are a little leary of posting their discounts in a public forum.

I have asked, but they are either older and don't take children or younger and don't have children yet. So they could tell me about some of the dinner places, but I'm more interested in counterservice. I have 5 children and need to keep cost down. I understand we don't "talk" about our discounts. I was hoping some nice person would explain how to get permission for the cast member forum or private message me.

Thank you so much. Sent my email off. My children are so excited. Me too obviously. Love my mouse.

Dining discounts are only good at sit-down restaurants. The only counter service restaurants that will honor your discount are in AK since they don't have a sit-down restaurant(Rainforest doesn't count-not Disney). Your CM discount is also honored at the Rainforest at AK and many of the DTD restaurants. You have to check with each individual restaurant as they each offer different discounts.
Keep in mind that when you use your discount, the WDW restaurant will automatically add a gratuity to your bill. Can't remember if it is 15 or 18%, but you don't want to end up leaving an additional 15% tip on top of that. The counter service restaurants do not add this gratuity.
Discounts are usually not honored on major holidays and some restaurants only allow them for lunch. Your best bet is to check with the CMs at each venue to find out exactly what you are entitled to.

Chef Mickeys gives 20% discounts to CM's.... The food courts at All-Star Resorts also gives the discounts too. Your kids will have a blast but most of all you will have the time of your life seeing Disney thru your childrens eyes...

I am still attempting to obtain a job with Disney. I was wondering how difficult it was to schedule a vacation and obtain a CM discount on rooms? I know there are blackout dates for vacations, but how often do they offer a room discount to CMs? And do part time cm's get any discounts? I don't need to know how much or anything specific. I would just like to know if there are perks other than a smallish pay check (for pt cm's).
Discounts for: (part time and full time) ??
Rooms
Tickets
Food
Merchandise
Cruise

Thanks.

The Disney Store does not hire full time employees unless your in Management or maybe a lead, so part-timers get the discounts too.
It's not hard to try and get the discounts on rooms... You just call and see if they have any castmember rates available for the resort and dates you'd like to go....
As for discounts on food, just tell the waiter or counterserver that your a castmember and ask if you get your discount.
As for all other discounts on merchandise, tell the cashier that your a CM and ask for your discounts..
Discounts on tickets really stink!!!! You can get just as good of a discount thru ticketmania.

As stated before, meal discounts are mainly at the sit down restaurants. The only exception is at Animal Kingdgom, because they do not have table-waited restaurants, so you would get your discount at like Pizzafari and the BBQ place and Tusker house.

I have a couple of other tips for you if you wish, PM me and I can share some information. I don't have little ones, but I do like to save money.

I did not know that CM's get their discount at Tusker House. My hubby is a CM and we eat there whenever we are at AK.

Well, I can't offer a lot of info about any Cm discounts, but we have a family member who is a cm and he was able to book a room for us with a very good discount. Cms have to call a seperate number to book their rooms it is 1407939CAST, depending on the season, it is a certain percentage off the room. Someone on the resorts board tried to tell me that Cm's aren't allowed to get discounts for family members but they can, there is a limit, up to 3 rooms, 7 night max stay. It is called the guest bedroom or something like that, I don't want to post the rate, but I'll just say it was very, extremely, good.

Just curious. How long does one need to be a CM to get the discounts? I'm assuming there is a waiting period as most companies do with any other benefits.

Some discounts are better for WDW cast then Disneystore cast members. The room thing can be very confusing, as we get different info on the guest 2nd room from time to time. Sometimes for disneystore CMs, they say we must be staying in the same hotel, etc.

As for details on discounts, let's just say they are pretty good at WDW, they used to be better, we lost some Feb 1st of this year. If you love going to WDW, it might be a good PT job for someone who needs one......... we work hard, have fun, and travel to WDW often! (But we are subject to blackouts on travel, like the month of Nov and Dec, Easter week, inventory weeks, etc)

Pat, is the CM blackout for Nov. and Dec. new? My hubby and I went a couple of years ago for NYE and we weren't blacked out and a CM friend of ours is going for xmas.

I think the blackouts are at the managers discretion for some areas of the company. We went in December one year and our manager and her family was there the same time.
