:welcome:

Welcome to my latest trip report. Long time no see! :wave2::laughing:

This one is going to be a much more brief report, compared to previous ones. ::yes::

My last trip report, the Hawaii one, had 1289 photos and this one only will have 386 and because this was a trip from August, my recall is not as good as it used to be so I probably have forgotten half the trip but I figured let's write it up anyway.:teeth::thumbsup2

This was our first Mother-Daughter trip ever! When my daughter Kira was younger, I was too afraid to go anywhere with just her and I because I have some serious health issues and I just never know what will come up. I have had more than my share of scary situations that come out of nowhere so while I have wanted to do this for a very long time, it just wasn't a good choice. Until now, that is. :goodvibes

A couple of weeks after this trip ended, Kira left for University in Nova Scotia, which is about 5000 kilometers, or 3000 miles away, so it was also a chance for us to spend some quality time together before she moved to the other side of the country.

It had been a while since our last Universal Orlando trip and we both love it there and I had earned a couple of free 3-day passes, so it was a relatively cheap option for us. Her uncle J had gifted us two plane tickets, so we just had to take care of hotel, rental car and food. :thumbsup2

It also worked out because our besties, Jen & Claire were also taking a mother-daughter trip to Orlando almost at the same time. They were going to WDW and their trip started a few days after ours but we managed to meet up a couple of times, so that was a very nice bonus. :cool1:

Okay, now that you have the details, I will start a Chapter Links post and then I will get this adventure started. :woohoo:

I *just* now realized that I posted this report on the Disney Trip Reports boards by accident! Ooooops! :rolleyes2 Oh well, unless a moderator sees this and wants to move it over to the Universal Trip Reports board, I will just keep writing it here as we did visit Disney Springs a few times this trip. :rolleyes1:rotfl2:

And as always, if you are having trouble seeing all of my pics, just hit reload and be patient, sometimes they are slow to load. :thumbsup2

I decided to change things up a little with our flights this time. Air Canada does not offer direct flights from Calgary to Orlando so we always have to connect in Montréal or Toronto and often, the connection is 3+ hours, so it makes it for a very long day. I have had lower back issues since I was 20 and as I am getting older, it's getting worse and I find that I am barely able to get through these very long travel days. This trip, I decided to try something new and so we ended up choosing a longer overlay in Montreal and booking one night in the airport hotel in order to break up the travel day into two days. Let's see how that goes. :rolleyes1

We bid Rob a fond farewell when he dropped us off at the airport. We were going to miss him but we were also excited for a M-D trip too.

JPG1.jpg

Since she would be flying all by herself when she comes home for Thanksgiving and Christmas, I let her do everything on her own so that she has some practice under her belt and is not so nervous when she has to do it solo.

She checked us in on the app and then again at the kiosk at the airport. She even handled all the bag stuff herself. :thumbsup2

JPG2.jpg

Since it was just a domestic flight today, it was all easy-peasy! With our Nexus cards, we sailed through security. It was my first time flying out of D gates. Normally we fly out of Air Canada's smaller, regular C gate but we were flying on an A330, which is a huge plane and I think they can only fit at the D gates.

We stopped off at Starbucks so Kira could get a strawberry acai drink and a cookie and an ice water for me.

JPG3.jpg

We found our gate and some seats and then I went to explore the terminal. I have landed in this gate before but since it was a rush to get off, I never got to check the terminal out. I love airplanes and hotels and everything travel related so I was excited to a explore some new territory. :p

Anyone for a giant maple cream?

JPG4.jpg

Before long, it was time for our flight. :cool1:

JPG5.jpg

JPG6.jpg

On the YYC-YUL (and back again) flights, we were lucky enough to be in the Premium Economy seats. Ahead of us were the Business Class lie-flat seats and behind us was Economy. This was the first time Kira flew in a a big plane like this. She was SO excited about these seats and all of the features that came with them. She enjoyed every second of this experience. :rotfl2:

JPG7.jpg

We took our traditional airplane selfie and then we were off!

JPG8.jpg

JPG9.jpg

The bathrooms were huge and had windows in them! 😲 :lmao:

JPG10.jpg

And about half-way through the flight, we were served dinner! It wasn't fabulous but it sure was nice to have some real food on a place.

JPG11.jpg

JPG12.jpg

I had bought Kira a magazine that showcased the most haunted places in the world, which she enjoyed as she's really into the supernatural and I read some of my book on my iPad.

JPG13.jpg

We landed in Montréal just before sunset. You can tell that they were experiencing wildfires. This is a sun that we knew very well in Calgary, as we get a lot of wildfires in and around us too.

JPG14.jpg

When we landed, our gate was occupied so we ended up parking on the tarmac for about 30 minutes.

JPG15.jpg

Once we were off the plane, we headed down to grab our luggage and then walked over to the end of the airport to find the Marriott Hotel that I had booked for the one night.

JPG16.jpg

It was a bit of a pain to get to. You had to take one elevator to get to the hotel level and then another one up to the check-in area but it was nice and quiet at check-in since it was so late. The room was very nice, big and clean.

JPG17.jpg

JPG18.jpg

JPG19.jpg

JPG20.jpg

The fridge had a button that I have never seen before. You can bet I pressed that Quick Chill button immediately. :rotfl2:

JPG21.jpg

We FaceTimed with Rob and then headed to bed. It was quite late and we had to be up in about 7 hours to catch our early morning flight to Orlando! :scared:

Stay tuned for the next chapter as we fly to Orlando and get settled in at Universal for the week. :thumbsup2

My husband is the planner so I would miss him on trips. I did do a trip when the kids were 7 and 10 to WDW to meet others from this board. I met some before so I felt save with them.

I’m more worried these days that one of us will get sick while away . My husband just says we deal with it . Got to travel while we can still move .

Now our daughter joins us sometimes and I let her do all that stuff too. She is travel ready.

Can’t wait to hear more.

I slept well but it felt very short. :p The beds were comfy, there wasn't a lot of noise, it was nice. We woke up just after 4am, got ready for the day and then headed over to the USA terminal, which was the closest one to us, yay! :woohoo:

We both really enjoyed the short journey from our beds to the check-in area. :thumbsup2

Love the emoji in the "Montréal". 😎🤣

JPG22.jpg

I let Kira check us in on the kiosk again and then tag our bags and then drop them, all by herself. Montréal has a cool baggage drop belt. It literally drops down into the abyss, it was hilarious! I have video of it so stay tuned for the vacation videos once I am done this report. We were very entertained by it and the agent who was supervising was enjoying watching our reactions to it. :lmao:

Since Kira is 17 and technically a minor, I was ready with a form that was signed by Rob for when we got through US Custom's pre-clear that is required when you cross the border without the other parent. First up was security though and thankfully, Montréal has a dedicated Nexus security line going to the USA, unlike Calgary, which only lets you bypass the outside queue if it's long. You still have to remove all of your liquids and laptops. This was so much nicer! It was very quick and very efficient! :thumbsup2

Next up was Customs, which is so quick to get through now, you just stand in front of the machine and it takes your photo and then you walk past the agent, they confirm your name and if you have an all-clear, which we always do, then you just keep walking! No line, no one even asked about a form or anything! Usually if you don't have the other parent with you, they grill you about where you are going, how long you are going for, why the other parent isn't with you, etc. I guess they figured that, at 17, she's old enough to not be dragged anywhere she doesn't want to go. :rolleyes2:rotfl2:

I think it was less than 5 minutes for the entire process after showing our boarding pass! Love it!! :worship:

Passing through Duty Free, as always.

JPG23.jpg

We were keeping a close eye on a storm that was developing. At the time we left, it was a tropical depression but it eventually turned into Hurricane Debby. This was a weird storm. It didn't do as much damage as first predicted but it did end up all the way up to Québec, the province which we were currently in and it ended up being the costliest natural disaster in the history of Québec!

Not something we could have predicted as we were leaving Québec that morning. I was slightly concerned that we were heading into the brunt of what could have been a really bad storm but I was also slightly excited. If you have read my reports before, you probably know about my love of rain and storms. Kira has this same love and I knew that Orlando, being in the middle of the state, is one of the safer places to be if you are stuck in Florida during a hurricane. ::yes::

JPG24.jpg

There's not many options for food in the USA terminal so we opted for Starbucks again, or shall I say, Café Starbucks. :p:artist:

JPG25.jpg

Voulez-vous un petit déjeuner, ce matin?

I was born in Montréal and growing up with 4 much-older siblings, my parents ended up putting me in French school so that I wouldn't get bored, so I am the only person in my immediate family who speaks French. When I graduated High School, I was bilingual but since I don't speak it very often, I have lost a lot of it over the years but I still know enough to get by comfortably in a French environment. Although most people here in the service industry speak both French and English and you don't absolutely need to speak French here, it does help and I enjoy getting to speak it when I can. I still have a good accent but sometimes I forget words but the good thing about the French language is that there's always a dozen ways to say anything, so I can fake it pretty well.:lmao:

JPG26.jpg

We had some breakfast sammies and then settled in at our gate until it was time to board our plane.

JPG27.jpg

JPG28.jpg

We were tired but excited! ::yes::

JPG29.jpg

I absolutely love it when we hit Florida on a clear day and you can see the beaches on the Atlantic coast.

JPG30.jpg

The clouds were tall and magnificent that morning, I was in cloud-Heaven watching it all. :cloud9:

JPG31.jpg

JPG32.jpg

We flew in from the south, I could see Exit 17A, a very familiar exit as we always take the southern, more local way to and from the airport.

JPG33.jpg

We landed around 10:30am, which was really weird for us as we normally don't land until 5pm when taking the direct flight and not until 8 or 9 pm when connecting through YYZ or YUL.

JPG34.jpg

There is nothing better than landing at MCO, heading for the faux monorail at the very beginning of your trip. Am I right?:woohoo::worship:

JPG35.jpg

JPG36.jpg

There was slim pickings for cars in our category at Alamo but there was one sole Nissan Rogue and I quickly nabbed it. I enjoy driving Nissans while on vacation, I am familiar and comfortable with them and 9 times out of 10, that is what we end up in.

I had started the engine right away, in order to get the car cooled off as the hot Florida air was already ripe with humidity, and then I started my usual walk-around to check for damage. Once I was satisfied that I couldn't see anything significant, I loaded the luggage in and had headed back into the car to notice that the car was not very cold. Kira tried to convince me that it probably just needed more time to cool down but as someone who overheats easily, I have had to become a connoisseur of AC and I knew that this was not the optimal car for us! By now, it should be feeling like a lovely arctic blast but as I sat there, directly in front of the vents that were fully open and blowing, I felt only a slight coolness.

I was not keen on leaving this lone Nissan but we were about to spend a whole week in temperatures that Hades himself would envy so I knew we needed to find another car. :scared:

JPG37.jpg

With no Nissans left, I opted for a Hyundai Tucson, which was similar in size to the Rogue. Before moving, however, I got into the driver's seat, started the car, blasted the AC and decided that this would do. Within two minutes, the entire car had cooled down and, sitting directly in front of the vents, it was absolutely, positively and delightfully chilly. :cold::lovestruc

I unloaded, moved and reloaded our luggage into the Tucson and within seconds of Kira being in the front passenger seat, she agreed that this was a MUCH better choice. :teeth:

JPG38.jpg

Happy with our new frosty environment, we headed to Universal, this time using the north exit from the airport, something we haven't done in years. We tried to get Apple CarPlay to work but no matter what we tried, it just didn't work. Not to worry, I know my way around Orlando quite well and I am very comfortable driving without anyone to guide me, which is a very good thing because Kira has her dad's sense of direction and couldn't guide me anywhere if her life depended on it. :lmao::lmao:

About thirty minutes later, we were pulling into Universal's Aventura Hotel. I have stayed here many times, with and without my family and I just love it! I remember when it first opened and after I had already had three wonderful stays at Cabana Bay Beach Resort behind me, I had thought to myself "Why would anyone stay there?" It was priced the same and CBBR was just so much better, in my naïve opinion.

Then we had a couple of horrible experiences at Cabana Bay that totally turned me off of that resort and I started staying at Aventura. While it doesn't have some of the amazing amenities that CBBR has, (hello, lazy river and great food court, I'm talking about you!) it also doesn't have many of the horrible things that come with a stay there either. There's no massive teen groups that take over the entire resort, it doesn't have loud, thumping music from 8am until 10pm in and around it's pool areas and it is not filled with screaming kids.

With it's wonderfully quiet spaces, it's mostly-adult clientele and the ability to walk through Sapphire Falls to take the Water Taxi to City Walk, I will continue to choose Aventura over and over again. ::yes::

JPG39.jpg

We checked in, Kira got a "I'm celebrating" button for her graduation and then we headed up to our room.

JPG40.jpg

One of the other things that I absolutely love about staying here, if I can get it, is the option of booking a Deluxe Room, which isn't much more than a Standard Room. I have stayed in this type of room a few times now and have loved it every single time. Since we would be spending a decent amount of time in our room this trip, I splurged and treated ourselves to this lovely room.

This was Kira's first time experiencing a Deluxe Room and I was excited for her to see it. I knew she would love it as much as I do.

JPG41.jpg

My prediction was correct, she did love it!

These rooms are located in the outside rounded parts of the building, with floor-to-ceiling windows that wrap around the rounded space, which makes it feel incredibly spacious.

JPG43.jpg

We had a lovely view of Cabana Bay, Volcano Bay as well as a little part of the parks. She was a happy camper. :goodvibes

JPG44.jpg

JPG45.jpg

JPG46.jpg

JPG47.jpg

JPG48.jpg

I will have more pictures of our views in the next chapter. ;)

We unpacked, got settled in and then chilled for a bit in our lovely room.

Stay tuned for the next chapter where we visit Disney Springs. :thumbsup2

Aug 3rd, Part 2

We drove to Disney Springs and parked in the Lime Garage just because it was easier coming from that side. They had just changed up the way security was set up the day before and I was a little lost because although I have been in this garage before, it had been awhile and then it was moved way down to the end! 😵‍💫

JPG49.jpg

JPG50.jpg

My first priority was to get my chicken sammich! Everglazed, which also has amazing donuts, has the best chicken sandwich I have ever tasted and I crave it ALL the time! I haven't found anything like it anywhere else. When I book a trip to Orlando, the first thing that pops into my head is MY CHICKEN SAMMICH!!!! 😍:lmao:

JPG51.jpg

We got a chocolate glaze to share.

JPG52.jpg

We split the chicken sandwich too although I can easily eat one all by myself.

JPG53.jpg

Kira enjoyed it but not like I enjoyed it. She took two bites and that was enough for her so I finished off her half for her. It was soooooooooooooooo good! 🤤

We walked down and explored some shops and stopped for a selfie.

JPG54.jpg

Kira was still hungry so we decided to stop at Chicken Guy for her. She didn't love it. :rolleyes2 Boy, she was picky that day!

JPG55.jpg

We stopped at the Guest Services/Ticket Center to update some old tickets so we could go to Typhoon Lagoon on Monday. They were predicting a little weather but at this point, just some rain and nothing too bad.

JPG56.jpg

Then we headed to The World of Disney to check it out. They had these cool displays featuring rides. Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean and more and then despite it just barely being August, there was a huge Halloween section all set up. It was gorgeous.

JPG57.jpg

JPG58.jpg

JPG59.jpg

JPG60.jpg

We didn't see anything that we loved so we headed over to get some Dole Whips.

JPG61.jpg

Then it was time to head over to Gideon's. While Kira has enjoyed many a cookie that I have brought home for her, she has yet to step inside this store so we had to change that! ::yes::

JPG62.jpg

I knew she would love it, the theming is right up her alley! :thumbsup2

JPG63.jpg

JPG64.jpg

JPG65.jpg

JPG66.jpg

We got some cookies for the week. They are so big, they last us a long time! ::yes::

JPG67.jpg

I dropped Kira off at Aventura and then I headed for Target for some supplies for the week. She didn't want to come with me, she likes to bed rot, so she did her thing and I went shopping. I stocked up on water and diet coke and some stuff that I can't find at home. I like the tank tops at Target and they are only $6 and I basically wear a tank top and shorts every day of the year, no matter the weather, so I tend to go through them as I don't like aprons (too hot!) and I cook in them and stain them. 😬

I asked Kira to come to the car to meet me so she could help me bring everything up to the room. She found a cart right at the elevator so she brought that, which made it so much easier!

She stumbled upon Relay in the lobby as we passed by. Seeing and interacting with Relay is Kira's favourite part of staying at Aventura. He is a robot (they have 3 or 4 of them) that zooms around the hotel and often delivers small items to the hotel guests. We spotted Relay so many times on this trip, she loved it! You can ask him to tell you jokes or just say random stuff.

JPG68.jpg

This particular time, he requested that she take a selfie with him, so of course, she acquiesced to his request. When a robot asks for a selfie, you take a selfie! :p

JPG69.jpg

Back up to the room, I put everything away and took some photos of our cookie haul. We got a chocolate chip, an oreo and the August specialty, Key Lime Chocolate Chip!

JPG70.jpg

JPG71.jpg

We then relaxed and enjoyed some chill time and the amazing views from our room.

JPG72.jpg

JPG73.jpg

JPG74.jpg

JPG75.jpg

We could see the top of Hogwarts Castle and the Top Hat part of Velocicoaster! 😍🤩

JPG76.jpg

We also got spectacular views of the sunset every night! I loved this room!

JPG77.jpg

JPG78.jpg

It was time for one of my favourite things to do on vacation, nighttime swims in the pool! And one of the best things about Aventura, in my opinion, is how quiet the pool is! Keep in mind, this is prime time in Orlando, beginning of August, before any of the kids go back to school, weather was perfect and look how quiet the pool is! I've swam in this pool many a night and it's always like this. I LOVE this pool! It's also very pretty, love the colours, the palm trees, the fact that is wraps all the way around so even if there's kids playing ball or whatever, you can always find a quiet spot to yourself. They do play music but it's not loud and obscene.

This is the polar opposite of what the Cabana Bay pool is. In fact, it is so loud at CB that if you listened closely, you could just barely hear the noise from their pool carry over all the way here.

I'm old and cranky and just don't like that scene anymore. There was a time where it didn't bother me like it does now but both Kira and I prefer quiet spaces and that's one of the reasons why we love Aventura so much.

JPG79.jpg

Sadly, the hot tub was closed. 😭

JPG80.jpg

Kira didn't swim that night, she just sat at the edge and put her feet in while I enjoyed every inch of that gorgeous pool!

Pretty sure I stayed until closing. 🥰

Stay tuned in the next chapter for our first day at the parks. :thumbsup2

Coincidentally, my daughter and I were in Orlando at this same time for our Mother-Daughter trip for her graduation. We did WDW although I want to try Universal some time. We ended up getting delayed coming home when they canceled our flight due to the weather. We were supposed to fly home Monday and they rescheduled us for Thursday! Normally we would be excited about getting a few extra days but we had already been there for 8 days and I had to work. I ended up spending a lot of time in the business center working and got our flight moved up to Wednesday. My daughter got sick and spent most of our extra days sleeping. Which was a bummer because that Tuesday was the best weather of the whole trip! She is starting the Disney College Program at the end of January so we may get a chance to go to Universal while she's down there. Also, I love your trip reports. I'm not much of a commenter but I follow along on all of them and I appreciate all the time you put into them.

Oh boy! So excited for another trip report! :hyper:
It is really nice that ya'll got to travel for a mother/daughter trip.
Thanks for posting. :worship:

I wish you and your daughter safe travels forever !
Love your trip report !

I haven't been on the DIS in forever, but decided to pop in for this trip report. I have never stayed at Adventure, but love what I'm seeing so far. Good to know that it's a better choice than Cabana Bay. I need a UO night in January and the rate is great with the Passholder discount so this may be my choice. Loving your report so far!

Excited to see another trip report!

It makes me chuckle when you guys buy stuff you can’t get in Canada in the US … it works both ways! We live a couple hours from the border in Michigan and have been known to head to Canada for the day just to buy Canadian things (mostly snacks) and feel like international jet setters. 😂 My daughters (both in college) just took the train from Windsor to Toronto to see Taylor Swift, and before they drove back across the border - they had to make a pit stop at Wal-Mart in Canada to pick up some All Dressed chips, Nestle chocolates and gummy candies (apparently the gummy candies in Canada are superior …IDK).

Wow that was fast…lol

That's funny because I am the planner, hubby just shows up and he is always lost when he has to go on a trip without me. :rotfl2:

I love going on solo trips, I do at least one a year for work related stuff. :cool1:

I agree with your hubby, travel while you can! That has been my motto these last few years, I am getting old and with health issues, I am really starting to feel it so I am travelling as much as I can. ::yes::

But I understand your worry and I hope you can have a few more adventures. :goodvibes

Following ☺️

Thanks! :flower:

Popping over from tour Hawaii report. Great start . Looking forward to reading more

Glad you found me. :flower1:

That is so funny! Same trip, same time! :teeth:

Oh no! I am so sorry you got delayed on the way home, that must have been tough!! And your daughter being sick is a total bummer! It's tough being sick on vacation. I have been there way too many times. :worried:

That is so exciting about her starting the DCP!! Congrats to her! :cool1: I hope you get to go see her in January and have some park time together, I love being in Orlando in January!

Thanks for taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it! :flower3:

Those cookies look so good 😍 I haven't been back to WDW since Gideons opened, I definitely need to make that a priority next time I go!

The cookies are good, Kira REALLY loves them! Try the cakes though, they are even better!

Oh boy! So excited for another trip report! :hyper:

Thanks for following along, as always!

Yay another trip report to read. Love it!

Glad you're here! :cool1:

Yeahhhh another TR nice reading ahead !

Yay, you made it! :bounce:

My mom and i used to go yearly 2005-2015. We stopped in 2015 because of my depression.
it was so much fun. Hope you had a great trip.

Awwww, that is amazing that you got 10 years of mother/daughter trips there!!! I love it!

I am so sorry you had to stop because of your depression. That's a really tough thing to deal with and overcome, I hope you're okay!

.

Love your trip report !
Thanks! :goodvibes

Just to be clear, I didn't remove my two photos because I thought they were inappropriate. The first one did not show any private parts at all, not even her underwear, but I can see that it could be misconstrued so I decided to remove just in case. The second one was taken down out of an abundance of caution, although I still think it was just a great photo of my beautiful daughter enjoying her pool time, dressed in swimwear that covered her private areas completely.

You should also know that anything I post in my trip reports, whether it's photos, stories, anything personal at all, it has all been approved by my daughter herself and always has, even when she was younger. She does read these and she knows that she has 100% veto rights if she ever disapproves of a photo or a comment. I also get her consent for every photo I take of her, regardless of her attire. I do not demand, I always ask if I may take her photo.

I have seen and read the trafficking signs at the airport, you would have to be pretty obtuse to miss them and I do know the help hand signals and while travelling, I am very aware of that. I'm not exactly sure what that has to do with my trip report but I appreciate your awareness and consideration.

And yes, I do know about parents taking their kids across borders without consent and although she was 17, I was still prepared with all of the required paperwork. My husband has taken my daughter on several trips down south without me and we are fully aware of the proper steps needed in order to travel without both parents present. When we go through US Customs and Immigration, the photo they take is used for facial recognition and then our Trusted Traveller (Nexus) profile comes up. Our address is not listed on that screen, but it does show that our passport is valid and matched with our photo.

I am so glad that you decided to pop in to read! I really do enjoy Aventura, so many great things about it. I will say though that their food options are not the best but it's not a deal breaker for us. :thumbsup2

Hahaha yes! That is so funny! I have two besties that live in the US and I am always either sending them Canadian goodies by mail or bringing them with me when I see them! I once tried to bring ketchup chips for them but they didn't travel so well so I will be sticking to chocolates and candy! :rotfl2:

For the longest time, I couldn't get Excedrine Migraine up here and it's the only thing that works on my headaches so I always get that and now I can't find my Vaseline Lip Balm here anymore and I am SOOOO addicted to lip balm so now that's just another thing on my list to grab while in the US. I also get Ken's Honey Mustard dipping sauce, the small packs of nacho cheese dip and the snack size Planters Honey Nut Roasted peanuts! :rotfl:

Aug 4th, Part 1

Up early this morning so we could make early entry. :thumbsup2

I absolutely love being able to walk through Sapphire Falls to get to the Water Taxi. There is never a big line for security, unlike the City Walk garage security lines.

It's also a lot prettier taking the water taxi and you have fresh air the entire time. :lovestruc

We stopped for a quick selfie at IOA before heading into the massive crowds.

JPG85.jpg

It was already really packed. :scared::crowded:

JPG86.jpg

This was our first time using the new facial recognition machines.

JPG87.jpg

The Lost Continent is looking a little rough. Unless that's supposed to be snow at the top. :rotfl2:

I am guessing they are not putting any effort into fixing it because they will be reimagining it soon. :confused3

JPG88.jpg

We had one goal every single park day and that was to ride our two favourite coasters as much as we could before the heat and crowds came. This was ride number one for VC.

JPG89.jpg

JPG90.jpg

We always do the front row. I think for this coaster, front row is just, by far, the best way to experience this coaster. ::yes::

If you like thrills, make sure to try the front! Sometimes it has an extra 10-15 minute wait for that front row but it is worth it! I will say that I was shocked to see that most of the time, front row only had a short or no wait, so we definitely took advantage.

We got off the ride and headed back in for ride number two! In the early entry hour, you can easily ride it two or three times with hardly any wait. :cool1:

I am saddened to say that I have finally reached the point (and age, I guess) where doing these rides is taking a toll on my body. Normally I love every second of this ride and we have ridden it dozens of times before but that morning, instead of feeling 100% pure joy and excitement, I was feeling some pain. During the negative g-force parts of the ride (when you float up off your seat) the top of my thighs felt like they were being crushed by the restraint. The first round, it was uncomfortable but the thrill of the rest of the ride distracted me enough to still really enjoy it. The second round, the pain was worse and I was not looking forward to those negative g's. :worried:

After two rides, we decided to head to Hogsmeade. pixiedust:

JPG92.jpg

JPG93.jpg

Forbidden Journey had a short wait time so we headed there.

JPG94.jpg

As we entered the castle, we saw this on the right and didn't understand what exactly it was. It was roped off, dark (although it appears much lighter in the photo) and deserted. It was just kind of weird and creepy. This space used to be the area with the ride lockers.

JPG95.jpg

I always love walking through the castle, they did such a great job with it!

JPG96.jpg

The ride was great as always, although since my episode with vestibular labyrinthitis back in 2021, I have a hard time with the screen parts of this ride so I just close my eyes now during those parts. :p

When we got off the ride and did some browsing though the shops, we realized that the creepy space was just part of the store. It had mostly Christmas stuff and is quite deserted.

JPG97.jpg

Kira requested that we ride Flight of the Hippogriff next, so off we went!

JPG98.jpg

It was getting hot and crowded so we opted to take a break. When Kira hears "Universal Orlando", she thinks of Butterbeer and she had gone long enough now without one, so we had to remedy that. ::yes:::lmao:

I can't believe that they are now almost $10 USD with tax! :scared1:

We needed shade and a place to sit so we opted to get her butterbeer at Three Broomsticks. We are both introverts with anxiety and we found the absolute perfect table for us! It was in the corner, away from others. :thumbsup2:rotfl:

JPG99.jpg

After we recharged, it was time to ride Hagrid's! :moped:

JPG100.jpg

JPG101.jpg

I spotted these in the line. If you're my age or older, you will know what these are! I had a pair of them when I was 10 and I used them ALL the time!:teeth:

JPG102.jpg

I love the queue! This part has a couple of homages to Dueling Dragons, the ride that was here before. Rob and I first visited IOA shortly after it opened, way back in 1999 and several times after that and we LOVED Dueling Dragons! LOVED LOVED LOVED it!! Rob still has two shirts with DD on it, that he purchased in 1999 and he gets so many comments from Team Members when he wears them at he parks. In fact, Kira brought and wore one of those shirts on this trip. More on that later. ;)

JPG103.jpg

Each time I ride this, I always pray I get the front row! I have been in just about every row BUT the front. Rob and Kira got the front once and I was in the second row behind them but I was hoping that this was the trip that I would finally get that front row. 🙏🤞

No such luck this time. :sad1:

JPG104.jpg

The motorcycle is the best seat for sure. All three of us have agreed with that until that morning. Kira had the motorcycle seat on this first ride and she ended up not loving it.

JPG105.jpg

She said the restraint was really tight on her legs and she was very uncomfortable for a lot of the ride. It was so tight that it made impressions on her thighs!

That was the last time she rode the motorcycle. She was more than happy to take the side-car on all the other times we rode it.

JPG106.jpg

It was now time for lunch! Back to Three Broomsticks we went! :thumbsup2

For lunch and dinner, they had a different set up now. You need to find a table first, use the app to order, add your table number to the app order and they bring it to you. This didn't work for us, however, because I was using a gift card and the app did not accept gift cards for payment. For those who are paying with cash or gift card, you can still go up to the till and order but you need your table number before doing that as they add it to your order so they can bring it out to you.

I absolutely LOVED this change! As someone with anxiety and who has a hard time in tight, crowded spaces, the ability to avoid that crazy chaos that always happened between the ordering and the retrieving your meal, made me so happy! :woohoo:

Table 315 was ours! :lmao:

JPG107.jpg

We both had fish and chips and Kira got another butterbeer.

JPG108.jpg

She was a happy girl! ::yes::

JPG109.jpg

She even found a Hidden Mickey in it! :earboy2:

JPG110.jpg

After lunch, we headed out and spotted a lizard. This guy was quite big actually. Normally we see all the small ones.

JPG111.jpg

I am going to end this chapter here.

Stay tuned for our adventure with some crazy weather. :thumbsup2
