Shlepped four jars (mason-type jars and vases) and two boxes to the Commerce Bank today and we had $490.09!!!:cool1: :cool1:

We're putting the $$ toward our AP purchase--yeah!!

I wish I could say how long we've been saving the money--a bunch of it was just stowed away on a closet shelf for quite some time (sheesh, you'd think I also store bills under the mattress;) ), but I'm not really sure.

This time, I'll pay better attention--I've already dropped .79 in the empty jar, so here we go again!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

At Suntrust you have to go buy the rolling things and roll all the change. Has anyone ever tried those machines that you see in the stores for change. You just pour the money in and it gives you cash. How much do they charge. I am so cheep I have never looked at them close but buy the time I go out and buy all the rolls that I need I wonder if I have spent about the same.

At commerce bank in New Jersey they have a machine that will count you change for you. I think it's called coinstar. There is a charge (3c for every $1.00). Some of the local supermarkets have them also, some will wave the fee if you spend the money in the supermarket. I fill a can up with all my loose change and usually cash it in at the end of the month, I can generally get $20-$25 dollars a month. It all adds up.

Thats the machine were have at Publix. And 3 cents per dollar would be cheeper than buying the things to roll all that change. I will check it out today. Thanks

At Commerce Bank In NYC, you can bring in a bucket of change to their Penny Arcade. It counts it and gives you a receipt to cash in with the teller. It's free and you don't even have to have a Commerce Bank account. I do this every few months and put the money in my holiday account. I did it with a month's worth of change last week and bought two new bras and Frederick's of Hollywood..:cutie: felt great to not charge them!!!:woohoo:

At my credit union, you go in, swipe your atm card, dump the change, and the money is automatically deposited to you account. I get a print out of how much I deposited.

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Great saving!

We save change too for various things. I turned in a bunch at Christmas time and we've been saving it again for our Sept Disney trip. My bank...TCF...also has a free coin machine as long as you bank there. Never again will I roll change. Love the machine.

I'd avoid those machines in the grocery stores etc. They take 3% or more :scared1: of your money.

Commerce does it for free, and so do other banks. Look around--it would be worth it.

I'll never roll change again--Yuck!!

You could also try rolling just the quarters and dimes and taking the pennies and nickels to Coinstar.

Florida has a bank called Bank Atlantic. They have a free coin counting machine (no need to have an account). Their tag line is Florida's Most Convient Bank and they're not kidding!

Chevy Chase bank has free change counting machines, and you don't have to have an account there. The tellers sometimes try to get you to open an account, but other than that, no problems.

Thanks for the info on Bank Atlantic!! I'll have to bring our change jar to them before our cruise in just 3 weeks. That's just a little more spending money for us!!!

I love saving change. Since I opened and ING account though, I don't let it sit around too long. Once I have enough for a few rolls of various coins I take them in as a deposit and put them into ING for the extra interest. My kids love to roll coins now and really get into the "savings Bucket." When they have extra change they go add it to the FUNd.

I have a jar that has about $150.00 in it last time I checked; and hubby has one going and his is about the same. I'm hoping to have enough saved up to pay for the gas to Disney and the Keys from here. We are looking at around $400.00 in gas money.
