cash

I always recommend having SOME cash just in case the tech goes down.
This has happened to me a couple of times at WDW.
It actually just happened a few weeks ago when I went to UPS to make copies of our Christmas letter and I had to run to the ATM because I had none on me.

If you are not driving yourself, some people tip the driver who brings them (and their luggage) to/from the airport. However, if you are using Uber/Lyft, you can tip through the app.

Some people tip Bell Services castmembers if they bring luggage to/from the room.

If you are flying, and if your airline has curb-side check-in, and if you are using that service, you might want to tip.

I always bring cash bc Disney's tech sucks and their systems go down then you can't order anything via mobile or pay with a credit card. I always have enugh cash to pay for food/drinks for the day
Ugh! that's a nightmare!!! thanks for the tip

As an aside, it's always nice to tip rideshare drivers in cash instead of via the app. Of course they appreciate either, but cash is, well, cash!

I bring my wallet and cash when traveling but once i am checked in, Since the advent of magic bands, i don't bring it with me to the parks. I Have never had an issue not being able to charge to room, magic band. i probably just jinxed my self. UGH!

I have never had more then $100.00 with me in cash. That was even back when everyone used Travelers Checks.

We have cash ($100 in 5s and 10s) just in case and literally never use it, except to leave a tip for housekeeping and bell services. That's it. We leave it in the safe.
Systems have never gone down while we've been there, magic band works for everything.

I’m sure it happens, but I’ve never seen a point of sale at a Disney park only accepting cash.

I’ve also seen many people at the parks paying with cash…even at the height of the pandemic when it was advised against.

I have seen this multiple times. It is usually the kiosks that sell pretzels/water etc. Yep… I have bought a lot of strangers water over the years because the machine went down just as they were trying to buy something. It’s a good feeling being able to pixie dust someone. Another time my kiddo really wanted a main street ballon but the handheld thing for scanning bands/cards was down.
It has definitely come in handy on several occasions!

You never know. Bell services get a lot from us. The bus drivers to and from MCO always took tips though on all our trips on MDE, we were the only ones ever tipping. >:( You certainly can always get cash on property, but I like to bring a much of 5s and 10s.

Never bring it to the parks anymore. We only bring some for tips these days. Don’t even take wallets or cc into parks now as magic bands and phones have us covered. Never had any issues.

It’s good to have in case your CC is denied/canceled. Sometimes, the CC companies get overzealous and lock your CC for suspicious activity when it’s just your vacation charges. Also, if they cancel your card due to fraud, they may not notify you or let you know in time, so you could be carrying around an useable CC. So, bring backup CC too.

I’ll attest to this. On one trip visiting family, I had fraudulent charges on my CC. They locked the card when I reported it. We’re now here at WDW and my replacement card was locked because of traveling charges, even though I reported we would be traveling. I had to call to get unlocked.

Happened to us in Hawaii once. Luckily, DH and I each carry 2 separate cards on trips.
