cash

Happened to us in Hawaii once. Luckily, DH and I each carry 2 separate cards on trips.

I always carry 2 cards on me and I keep another with my passport, locked in the room safe, just in case I lose my wallet. My wife also has her own cards. One nice thing about our Costco CC, is that my wife has her own number. So if one card gets locked, we can use the other.

I don't bring nearly as much cash as I used to, but I don't like to take a week of vacay without at least $150 in cash. It's great for tips, for making small purchases (just water for instance), or for doling out to the kiddos for small things. I really hate to charge a $3.50 item to a card...

Is there any need to bring cash other than tips for mousekeeping

I always budget some cash for each day in the parks for tips and snack carts (think mickey ice cream bars or popcorn, lol). I figure an amount per person per day. If it is warmer weather then I take more cash for plenty of water bottles and ice cream bars, cooler weather then a little less.
