Cash value for points overage

If I want to make a DVC reservation that costs 636 points and I have 500 points to use, how does Disney figure what cash amount to charge me for the extra 136 points?

There is no direct point-to-cash conversion. You would have to book part of the stay on points and part of it on cash and then link the 2 reservations. You can't book the same night with a combination of points & cash. There is sometimes a 25% cash discount for DVC members when staying at a DVC resort but it isn't available all the time. The only way to get cash in hand from your points is to rent them out or transfer them to another member.

if you can find another member to transfer you the 136 pts, that is also an option (you can only send or receive a transfer one time per year though.)

if you want to book at 11 months out, the transferred pts MUST be from the same home resort that you are planning to book.
